Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
And take the hidden paths that run...
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
|
|
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
|
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

Good morning!
Yeah, I was at the dentist...back now. Luckily they were able to just fill that busted tooth. He did two other fillings, too. Ugh...but it was really nice of them to do so much at once! Said he didn't want to send me on my way with things that needed done right off, and there was an opening right after my appointment, so they went ahead and did more. Quite an ordeal, but I'm glad that's done!
Just hope the anesthesia wears off before the closing...though at least it's just the top and not my tongue. I did the bottom filling without anesthesia so's I wouldn't have speech problems...

Yep...and it wasn't nearly as spendy as I thought it might be. If insurance covers what I THINK it covers, I should "only" be out a bit over a hundred bucks. Not as bad as I thought it could be. Even if I have to cover more than that, it won't be toooo horrible. *phew*

Heh...least it wasn't a super deep one.
Seriesly...numbness bothers me almost more than pain, I think. At least pain is fairly temporary. The numbness lasts hours, usually, and I am in more pain when it's done since I've usually chewed my tongue raw accidentally. Not to mention needles are evil...

There is no pain, you are receding.
A distant ships smoke on the horizon.
You are only coming through in waves.
Your lips move but I cant hear what youre sayin.
When I was a child I had a fever.
My hands felt just like two balloons.
Now I got that feeling once again.
I cant explain, you would not understand.
This is not how I am.
I have become comfortably numb.

~sigh~
Found out last night that my nephew got a full scholarship to VCU (Virginia Commonwealth University). If I understand correctly, it covers the pre-med program AND med school.
We just want to make it out of Algebra II...

Baby steps :~D Oh I know. Plus, as I told the wife, the nephew is adopted. So my sister can't claim genetics had anything to do with it.

And, I should add. In spite of all the issues with Jr. we're seeing he
does have potential. We've actually known that all along.
But we're accepting the fact that he's going on a different path than what we might have imagined.

But we're accepting the fact that he's going on a different path than what we might have imagined. My mom taught for awhile at the same high school I went to, so she knew the principle and other teachers well. Which is why I was taken back after I walked across the stage at graduation, when the principle handed me the diploma, he said... "I bet your mom can't believe you made it here"
I don't think he meant it like it sounded, but I've never been sure. :~D

We actually told him recently that we're ~okay~ if he doesn't think he's college material.
We also explained that he wouldn't have half the crap he wants to have. And we explained that those who go on from high school to become millionaires are vey rare.
Actually, Mom explained all those things. Dad clarified that he ain't livin' with us.
Quite frankly tho, I think it wouldn't be a bad thing if he went the military route and did college later.

Just was informed that they aren't considering me for that job.
Nice of them to inform me, I guess. But...rats.

It could be that would be best for him. He isn't interested in studying right now... not for some vague sense of being able to get a better job out of it later.
