The Hobbit Hole XX - And take the hidden paths that run...
The Freeper Hobbit Hole ^

Posted on 03/05/2005 11:51:13 AM PST by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

And take the hidden paths that run...

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

I though you were pointing out that you had a pattern of "get two, miss one". You could have pretended that was it and not admitted your mistake...

...and g'nad is blastin' bunnies for grins. If he hits one we'll probably be treated with a picture of it's blasted little body.

Bunnies are the least of my critter problems right now. Saw on the news that there's a cougar on the loose in the city, just a mile from my mom. Even had videos of it from a copcam.

The local politically-correct police chief warned "Rambos" not to go after the cat with guns or bows. He said just take the sensible precaution of not letting kids, pets, (or 84-year-old mothers) outside.

I wish the stoopid cop had taken his M16 out of the trunk, and shot the cougar, rather than videotape it. 100 yards is an easy shot, and, since he's a police officer, is a much better shot than po' dumb civilian me.

[sarcasm off] If you can't kill a four-legged predator at 100 yards, what are you going to do with the two-legged ones at 2 yards?

Heh, I'm a sucker for an action film. The louder, the better. But I like my action heroes to be a little self-deprecating, otherwise they're just big old brutes!

Have you seen True Lies, with Ahnold and Jamie Lee Curtis? It is truly FUN!

I am not sure I would recognize Queen songs if I heard them. Maybe I would.

I'm sure you've heard "We are the Champions".

UAW galactic headquarters offered to surrender to the Marines, but their CO is not accepting their surrender. He announced that the Marines found a parking lot that welcomes them, and the UAW's half-assed backhanded apology wouldn't cut it.

His troops supported him, and one even put on bumper stickers, and taped over "Chevrolet" on the tailgate to rub salt in the UAW's wounds.

I'm just a poor boy, nobody loves me
...He's just a poor boy, from a poor family,
...Spare him his life from this monstrosity!

Easy come, easy go, will you let me go--
...Bismillah, no! We will not let you go...

...a spam roll...

Sounds like an item on a Mississippi diner's menu. Have it with swayt tay.

Rockford (near Grand Rapids), Michigan

"You have probably seen Rosie's Diner before on television. It was made famous by actress Nancy Walker who played the character of Rosie the waitress, cleaning up spills with "the quicker picker upper," Bounty paper towels. The Paramount Dining Car Company built it in 1946, and it was one of their deluxe models. Today it is one of the finest streamline diners still around. Originally named the Silver Dollar Diner, it was owned by Tex Corrado, Ralph's dad. At Tex's first diner, "The Industrial Diner", he served a neighborhood kid, who liked to sing. That kid turned out to be Frank Sinatra. It was later known as the Farmland Diner. Ralph Corrado renamed it Rosie's after the TV commercials increased its popularity in 1970."
