The Hobbit Hole XX - And take the hidden paths that run...
The Freeper Hobbit Hole ^

Posted on 03/05/2005 11:51:13 AM PST by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

And take the hidden paths that run...

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

What's the file extension?

So, you're saying that it plays one clip ok, but another clip with the same file extension does not play...?

If that's the case, then it probably isn't the codec. It's probably something about the file that won't play; it may be corrupted, or have something different about it... does Media Player give you any kind of error message?

Those knives are really beautiful, 300. If knives ~can~ be called "beautiful". There just isn't a better word I can think of right now to describe them.

:-D

Evenin' everyone.

I don't know the file extension. I've been trying to find it.

MP says several things very fast and then says "Error downloading codec" and begins playing the audio.

Hey there backatcha!

Half-watching TV, half-surfing, half-reading a terrific book and half-snoozin' in my chair.

I multi-task even when I'm "resting".

LOL!

P.S. I know it adds up to more than one. ;)

I meant the file extension on the video file you're playing. If that's what you meant, then open a Windows Explorer, click the "Tools" menu, select "Folder Options". Click the "View" tab, find the box labeled "Hide file extensions for known file types", and un-check it if it's checked. Then click the "Apply" button, and "OK" on out. You should be able to view the file extension then.

In Media Player, try right-clicking the file name in the "Now Playing" section, and see if it gives you the option to view the error details.

In Media Player, try right-clicking the file name in the "Now Playing" section, and see if it gives you the option to view the error details.

Short version: did that, got this.

"The codec you are missing is not available for download from this site. You might be able to find it on another site by searching the Web for "VGPX" (this is the WaveFormat or FourCC identifier of the codec)."

A-hunting I will go...

There you go... AVI files can have different resolutions/recording rates/etc. that aren't all compatible with all codecs. The one that won't play just needs its special codec.

Thank you for the help.

My next challenge is to find the one download of this thing that doesn't require me to sign up for a bunch of other carp :)

Just thought you all might like to know... Elijah Wood appears in a film due out April 1, called "Sin City". It's another comic-book adaptation, but not a super-hero one. See the trailer here

I saw a trailer on TV... and didn't pay a lot of attention to it until I saw his name flash across the screen. Didn't recognize him or anything!

He only appears briefly in the trailer, near the end when all the stars are being listed.

Although I haven't read the comic, I really like the way the movie looks... can't wait to see it!

Wah! We're supposed to get snow here Saturday night/into Sunday. If it accumulates, I might not get to church!

I returned safely from my jaunt. Concert was FANTASTIC. Replaced two cds, one from each singer.

Good Morning, beautiful day, looks like a nice is in store for us. A bit of gardening on the agenda today. Gypsygirl is patiently waiting for her walk whilst we partake in our caffine fix. Sip - sip.
