The Hobbit Hole XX - And take the hidden paths that run...
The Freeper Hobbit Hole ^

Posted on 03/05/2005 11:51:13 AM PST by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

And take the hidden paths that run...

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

Good morning!

So just before I woke up, I thought I was waking to the sound of the jawas arriving to try to sell me droids...and this is the only Star Wars item I've seen in a longish time.

"There are no problems in interpersonal relations that cannot be solved by sufficient firepower".

Is that the corollary to "An armed society is a polite society" ?

Morning!

It's sunny and warm. That means - spring hat time! Whoo-hoo. And spring dresses, which is good because I don't have many winter ones.

It's warm here too, and while at this point I hope it continues, it's a spring with a sense of unease for me, like winter didn't go right. It never snowed. It didn't really even rain much. We are something like 8 inches behind 'normal'.

'Morning!

It's mid-50's here and the houseplants are outside now...think I'll leave them there overnight. Miss Cat is out on the back...well, "deck" would be generous....cat-lounging area.

OB I opened the sgd to exactly 6 inches and Miss Cat was able to go through.

Never snowed? Not at all? Weird....

Morning OT - Gypsygirl enjoyed a long walk, couple new dogs in theshire, they barked-she ignored.

Got a new lock for the back door and a new birdbath for the flower garden.

re; misskitty. They can get through some narrow spaces when they want to. Normally they doubtless prefer the door to be entirely open.

Morning Hair. That would be worrisome. That's quite a dearth of precip for your area. Hope the later dry season doesn't give you too much trouble.

sip.

It's still a little too nippy for that. Maybe later this afternoon. Right now she is enjoying her late-morning nap on the couch.

City water supplies will have real problems because there is no snow pack to speak of. Our ski resorts never opened this year. It's been devastating to them.

Here at home, well-fed water supplies probably be just fine, our ground water will catch up with spring rain that I think will still come. But Seattle and Tacoma get water from reservoirs fed by snowpack.

Hello! I like the new hole and I especially like the group pic of us all. What's up with the dwarf making funny faces?? (jk) The weekend has proven as busy as my week was. :( But I'm taking the opportunity to sit outside for a while in the sun for some Vitamin D therapy (always mood enhancing) and contemplate this year's garden. Wish it werent so cold. I'm sooo ready for spring...

We're sortof in the same situation, Feb was mild, but not quite warm enough to do any real gardening projects yet. I need temps in the 50's at night before I can re-seed the lawn that has been beaten down by traffic all winter, and that's the first thing I want to do.

A couple crocuses are blooming here, daffy's and tulips are poking their leaves up. Won't be long now. Drat. There is a cloud blocking my sunshine. :(

It's warming up here, already 61.

If it gets up to 65, I'm going to bathe horses and go for a ride.
