Purported photo of Phuket Thailand tsunami wave (Urban Legend alert)

From an e-mail I received today. Don't know if the photo's fake or not.
"The attached picture was forwarded by the head of the National Fire Sprinkler Association. He received it from someone who was in Phuket, Thailand at the time the tsunami hit. This perspective is much more amazing than what I have seen on TV coverage. Now I better understand the reason for the extent of the damage. The speed of the wave generated by the earthquake was estimated at 500 mph."

Looks kinda fake, but who knows?
One thing's for sure: If you are in one of those vehicles, you might as well say "just phuket" and forget it.

Looks fake. The big wave in the background looks to be around the same height as the ten-or-so story building that it's about to hit. The wave was around 20-30 ft. high as I recall

This absolutely is 100% fake.

We need someone that can read the data of the picture files. Someone on the GI Cody doll did this last night with that picture.

Definitely fake. Note that the big wave is higher than the hi-rise buildings. I saw this picture less than two weeks after the tsunami.

For that wave to be as big as it is as compared to the buildings...it would be on the order of 200+ feet.
There was absolutely NO report anywhere of such a wave. The pic is a fake...and by using graphical analysis by zooming in to the pixel level, you can easily tell it...particularly where the water is coming up over the highway well in advance of the wave.
