Looks kinda fake, but who knows?
One thing's for sure: If you are in one of those vehicles, you might as well say "just phuket" and forget it.

Looks fake. The big wave in the background looks to be around the same height as the ten-or-so story building that it's about to hit. The wave was around 20-30 ft. high as I recall

This absolutely is 100% fake.

We need someone that can read the data of the picture files. Someone on the GI Cody doll did this last night with that picture.

Definitely fake. Note that the big wave is higher than the hi-rise buildings. I saw this picture less than two weeks after the tsunami.

Obvious fake. And I say that as an artist of 20+ years.

For that wave to be as big as it is as compared to the buildings...it would be on the order of 200+ feet.
There was absolutely NO report anywhere of such a wave. The pic is a fake...and by using graphical analysis by zooming in to the pixel level, you can easily tell it...particularly where the water is coming up over the highway well in advance of the wave.

"picture was forwarded by the head of the National Fire Sprinkler Association"
This is as fake as the ken doll hostage. The perspective of the wave would make it twenty stories tall. I also question whether there is a national fire sprinkler association, but if there is I imagine they have a lot of time on their hands.

You can tell its fake by the mist overtaking the road, bad photoshop.
