And Bobby Fischer has a love affair with Jews.
BTW, I understand that the Prime Directive was based on our Vietnam policy.
Isaac Azimov was a far-right conservative, as was Gene Roddenberry.Roddenbooby? The 'man is perfectible through technology/ money is what corrupts man/ future socialist utopia' Gene Roddenbooby?
Hey, I love the original series, but, frankly, after that Roddenbooby's political outlook is ridiculous.
I didn't know Roddenberry personally, so I can't refute this, but I will say he allowed an awful lot of non-conservative world view to exist in Star Trek. Especially the Next Generation/DS9/Voyager series. I realize that the episodes were written by various people, but Roddenberry as executive producer sure allowed a lot of stuff in there that made me gag.
Roddenberry was a conservative? I never knew that. It seems like he was a pro-UN type, given the kumbaya vision of the TNG show...?
I'm a fan of Asimov, but he was no conservative.
Some people are hard to place in politics, because they combine libertarian tendencies with "progressive" tendencies.
I am unaware of any mainstream writer from the golden age who fell for communism. but I suspect many were democrats. This era -- 1920-1960 -- was when mainstream writers were kissing Stalin and Castro's boots and glorifying revolution.
H.G. Wells was supposedly a socialist, but he didn't put it in his sci-fi.
