I didn't know Roddenberry personally, so I can't refute this, but I will say he allowed an awful lot of non-conservative world view to exist in Star Trek. Especially the Next Generation/DS9/Voyager series. I realize that the episodes were written by various people, but Roddenberry as executive producer sure allowed a lot of stuff in there that made me gag.
Laz was being sarcastic.
Roddenberry died in '91. He never had a hand in DS9 or Voyager.
All ills since, and there's too many to count, can be laid on Berman.
