*New* The FreeRepublic Saddle Club - Who's Who *pics*
Free Republic has a lot of horse people that have found each other on other threads . And since we all like to talk horses, how about a thread where it is not off-topic, but is THE topic?
This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.
I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts look for it there and wake the thread up!
I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and Becky pings everyone most mornings. Let Becky (Paynoattentionmanbehindthecurtain) and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in . There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news . Legislation that might affect horse owners.
So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

New folk and occasional posters, jump right in and introduce yourselves, tell us about your horses, and post pictures if you've got them!
GMTA ;~D
I think typically a horse can live 10 years or more after a Cushing's diagnosis. You just have to be vigilant about keeping them off of green grass, clip the shaggy coat in summer and watch for any downward turns. I haven't even started George on the cushing's drug Pergolide, yet.
I agree. Only thing I could find about these strange deaths, was another message board.
We have had similar problems, and I don't know of a simple fix. Obviously, Ad-aware is the place to start, but as you have found, it doesn't fix everything. Go to Add/Remove programs and see if there are any programs there that might be causing the problem. I have found some that Ad-aware didn't spot, and they would launch pop-ups at regular intervals, or at certain times of the day.
Yahoo anti-spyware software will also find some that Ad-Aware misses.
???
LOL... It's internet shorthand!
Great Minds Think Alike ;~D
"I asked Tuffy if he loved me"
I hate to see what he would do if you asked him if he hated you!
I'm going to pass this on to my son and ask him to check with the state vet on it. It appears localized right now to the east coast but there may be some kind of heads up amongst the vets.
I'll probably get bounced off the horse rescue threads at Yahooo. Here's what I posted there.....
***Mr. Holland, who are you? (NOT trying to be demeaning by that)
Have you heard of any unusual cattle illnesses/deaths that happened at the same time as the horse tragedies?
Have you heard of any human illnesses/deaths that coincide with these horse *events*?
How close to horse auction barns are these dead horses?
Have the owners been to any auctions or come in contact with someone who's been to a horse auction?
Have you contacted the 'feds' about this terrible situation?
There HAS to be a common denominator that connects all these deaths in all these states.***
I'll get my courage up and post a thread. The worst that can happen, is it'll fall flat on its face, like my threads usually do. LOL!
You just don't want to be standing behind him when you ask.
So noted. Keep that camera put away as well.
A new group was starting pertaining to the posts I have been sharing with you on the new illness in our country, mainly in the East coast, but new states have been added. If you want to keep up with the latest updates on this, here's the new group: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/whisper_syndrome
I don't think you'll fall on your face... I'd post it but I'm not familiar at all with who the source is...
I titled it 'Bizarre Horse Deaths'.
I'm not very eloquent when making my own threads, so I probably screwed it up BIG TIME. (sigh)
Hey, if you think you can do better, go for it! I double dog dare ya!
LOL.....thought I was going to have to get my "Chatters Jargon" list out.
NOW it is serious. A double-dog-dare! What else was there but a "triple dare ya"? Please don't pull the coup de grace of all dares, the sinister triple-dog-dare!
BTW and 'FTR'.....we're not going to be having a baby any time soon. I lost my dream/horse. (long, 'whiney' story, that I don't want to burden ya with)
BUT while the Lord was slamming doors, He was opening OTHERS.
I'm now the owner of another rescue horse. She's @ 2 y.o., a grulla, @300 # underweight, hooves like skis, and feral.
She's NOT my idea of a dream horse. But she acts like she has found a dream life. She actually whinnied and walked up when her hay/vittles showed up today. LOL!!!
