*sigh*

I finally called the realtor. The lady I had sent the e-mail to is stationed at the office in the next town...which probably isn't a big deal, but it makes me wonder if I should try to get someone else. On the other hand, I DID already send her an e-mail.

I'm partly just feeling gun-shy. When I BOUGHT the house, the first agent I talked to was a guy that didn't seem to care at all about the job or about anything other than selling me something and fast. He didn't come across very well - several of the houses had obvious problems, but he kinda covered for them. Made me nervous. He also didn't tell me that according to their policies, when you start to work with the agency, you are required to stay with the same agent throughout. AND another lady from that office showed me a few houses when he couldn't...which further confused me, I guess.

So...when I called the other office (in the town where I live now) and asked if I could see the house I bought and an agent from that office showed me around, I got a furious call from the first office saying I was trying to stir up trouble between agents and now they had no idea who to give me to and to determine who would get commission. I guess it was stupid of me not to know the rules, but I honestly didn't.

And now I'm worried about accidentally doing something like that again. *bites nails*

Sounds like you got in a catty mess that is not your mess. You're the customer and can go to whoever you wish.

Now, as the seller, you will, when you agree to, sign something to actually list the house through a particular person. ... but with multiple listing service, many realtors will show it and you many never see the selling realtor until there's an offer. That's how it worked on my Dad's house. The listing realtor listed the house, and he just sat back and waited for the others to do the leg-work.

What twits! Who gets the commission is between them and doesn't involve you either on the buying end OR the selling end.

When you're selling your home, you will sign a contract with the Realty agency that givees them exclusive rights to show your home. Any other realtor who wants to show it, has to inform your realtor who may contact you unless you've given instructions about when it's OK to show (while you're at work, etc). Until you sign that contract, you have NO obligation to stay with any one realtor or realty company. Feel free to talk to as many as you like, and if they don't suit you, don't sign a contract! We talked to four different realtors until we decided on one when we sold our house in NJ. If you 're having trouble getting someone from an agency to return your call when you want to SELL, I'd call another agency. Selling is money in their pocket, and if they're not interested, find someone who is!
