The Hobbit Hole XIX - Tomorrow we may come this way...
The Freeper Hobbit Hole ^

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Tomorrow we may come this way...

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

Your character looks like a cat on a sleepshirt I have. Same facial expression, holding a mug of coffee, and it says "Morning people slapped on sight!" Don't think it's drooling, though.;o)

I think I'd have a hard time predicting what she'd wear getting out of prison.

The big comfy smock was good though.

*snicker*. You know, she's probably benefitting from the fact that Bernie Ebbers's (World Com) trial is in the news right now. What she did pales in comparison to his crime, and people are now understanding that. He ought to go to jail for a LONG, LONG time!

Good morning...

Need a bit of prayer, folks. Remember that whole "black mold" battle with State Farm which finally resulted in them paying for our new kitchen? Well, the expected has happened....

We are without homeowners insurance effective May 1st, just before hurricane season.

We are fighting them and providing (AGAIN) all of the receipts they are claiming we did not provide before, but I know good and well that this is way insurance companies operate. The minute they have to actually pay out on a claim, they cancel you.

Not many companies are writing policies in SoFla now, so if we cannot get on board with another insurance company, we will have to go with the state-run insurance. It is VEY expensive though and I honestly don't think I can afford it. :(

If we can't get State Farm to change their minds or find another company to sign us on, we will have no choice but to sell our home and move out of Miami.

Please keep us in your prayers that God will work things out however He sees fit and, if we do end up moving, that things go smoothly with that.

Sorry to dump such a downer on the Hobbit Hole first thing in the morning, but I've been kind of struggling with this for a few days.

Good grief... I'm sorry. What a headache. I can't believe you can't make one claim.

I can't reason with hurricane season again. Not looking forward to another year of worry!

(((Ruthy)))

Homeowner's insurance is a pain Ruthy. We'll keep you in our prayers. That's exactly why we didn't report the ~second~ bathroom leak.

I'm equally scared to call them and add Jr. to the car insurance. [shudder]

Just remember the Stormhands' philosophy:

Sometimes when God closes a door, He throws you through the attic ceiling.

;-)

You really only have to worry about August 6-13.

That's when we're at the beach. ;-)

Ruthy,

Just a thought. We never go through anything like that without putting up the best fight we can.

Put everything in writing and include copies of the receipts. Copy the letter to the State Insurance Commissioner, the Better Business Bureau, the Attorney General and your Congresscritter and anybody else you can think of.

And play up the divorced mom, caring for your parent, raising two kids angle. Lord knows you handle that better than most. But use it.

They get away with this stuff because people don't fight back.

If you want to email me all the facts, I'll draft a letter for you.

This is only the 2nd claim we've made in over 20 years with State Farm.

The first was Hurricane Andrew.

The insurance companies down here are just flat-out thieves. The rates are astronomical and coverage is hard to come by.

The prices for homes, insurance and property taxes are MUCH lower in the northern part of Florida, so we would definitely fare better there financially.

It's the leaving behind of family and friends, not to mention, the girls' dad that is weighing heavy on me.

Believe me, I plan on playing every card I've got! There is NO pride when it comes to taking care of and providing a home for my family.

The house is my mother's, even though I am the one paying for the mortgage. She has been very reluctant to add me to the deed because she feels as though she is giving up the only thing she really has to her name.

It kind of leaves me with my hands tied during times like these though, since I am not the home owner on the policy.
