The Hobbit Hole XIX - Tomorrow we may come this way...
The Freeper Hobbit Hole ^

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Tomorrow we may come this way...

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

:-)

Honestly, I've studied and all, so at this point all I can really do is pray. I've read the same set of slides three times this morning, I don't think reading them a fourth time will help.

Yeah, don't overstudy. It doesn't help.

I always try to relax, the last hour before the test.

Of course, I just discovered a computer with its case mysteriously askew and the memory unseated, in a classroom that exits onto the parking lot... memory is still there, but it bugs me. Someone was playing with it.

Locks. They are breakable, but tend to discourage casual thieves. We have 'em on all computers in public areas.

I want to go home. I'm all upset about the cats now. I should have done something about this long ago, but I hoped the problem would just go away. I'm bad about doing that.

I'll have a cup of decaf with you!

Matthew made a batch of fudge. EASY fudge. His math curriculum had the recipe and his satelite teacher made it during class so he had to have some! He made it all himself except the stove part and pouring the hot fudge into the dish.

Clare might like it...

On the stove, melt 6 T of butter till just melted. Add

1lb of powdered sugar
1/4 C cocoa powder
1/4 C milk
1/4 t. salt

Warm till really smooth and runny, stirring constantly, then add a tsp of vanilla, stir it in good, then pour into a buttered 8x8 dish. Chill in the fridge.

The boys ate the stuff off the spoon and pan right away!

Aww... but there's also a chance they're just sick, right? Since both of them have it? Try hard not to worry until you've seen the vet.

I wish it were just that...but the main reason I called this time is because I noticed Halvah's eye was suddenly starting to look almost opaque. I'm afraid it's already too late to fix it.

I guess it wouldn't be the end of the world if she did lose some vision, but it'd be my fault, which really bothers me. I'm supposed to be her caretaker, and I've let her down.

One of my family's cats is mostly blind, but she still gets around fine - won't jump on anything - and really doesn't seem to be too bothered.

Considering all that's on your plate right now, please don't be too hard on yourself for not being ahead of the curve on everything.

I figure Clare and your hubby could just commence to eating it right out of the pot! I was mighty tempted! LOL

Halvah isn't an outside cat, so her range isn't too far, and she won't get into any trouble. Don't beat yourself up about it. It could just be a cold or virus causing the runny eyes. Don't borrow trouble!!

They, and Joseph, too! They're all chocoholics! I'll just have to settle for my sugar free chocolates!

'zactly. That's why I haven't worn my contacts for a week...

'course I'm assuming Halvah doesn't have contacts.

Oh, and I just remembered, I have some Black Cocoa Powder, that when mixed with the Dark Dutch Process Cocoa I have, would make a scrumptious dark fudge!!

I just think if it were a cold, her eye wouldn't look...lighter. Like a nearsighted older animal.

But it's true...it doesn't necessarily mean the end of all things if it DOES turn out she loses most vision in one eye. Heck...I'm realllly nearsighted in one eye, and I do OK.

I guess I'll wait to continue beating myself up until after the diagnosis...

Mmmmm!!!

This was just so extremely easy. I'm sure it's not going to taste as nice and smooth as that kind made with marshmallow creme, but it'll do in a pinch! ;-)

*whimper*

I'm tryin' to be really good, what with the wedding coming up, and the fact that it's likely it'll be really tough to even maintain where I am when I'm living at home.

But I NEVER completely stop craving chocolate. Just ain't gonna happen...
