Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Tomorrow we may come this way...
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
|
|
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
|
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

their northern range limit seems to ebb and flow over the years That's what the MDC fellers said... makes sense... any I see will be terminated with extreme prejudice...
MDC is doin' a controlled burn around the ridge late tomorrow if'n conditions are right... mebbe we'll take pictures

That's a scary critter....
Saw "Amazing Race". Rob and Amber are seriously not impressing me and they are, as I thought, a little arrogant from their Survivor thing.

Well, I put the thread to sleep. Forgot I had something important to ask you earlier - had a bad experience the other day with the same thing - Gilbert and Sullivan. If I break into, say, the "Modern Major General" song, will you:
a. be horrified
b. be impressed
c. be singing backup?
Honestly, how does a person not know at least the names "Gilbert and Sullivan"? It's a cultural foundation!
Oh, yeah, I've got a midterm so TPL, everyone.

told the MDC I shot me a dillo... they said "good... keep doin' it..." I intend to...they destroy habitat, lawns and gardens... took this one at 20 yards... with muh .45... 230 gr FMJ hardball... went in through the right eye, exited the left... I was goin' fer a head shot... it'll werk...Great shooting. Try some 5.56mm next time, I'd be interested in how it works on those critters.
Possums are positively cute compared to those things.

A very common species of roadkill in Texas.
Somebody who does it for a living researched why dillos were roadkill out of proportion to their population, especially given that their low profile should keep them below the ground clearance of most gringo-owned vehicles.
They found, almost by accident, that the armadillo's "surprise" reflex consists of a vertical jump, and that the combination of armadillo reaction time and average vehicle speed conspire to place the startled beast at bumper height.
The particularly strong ones have been known to take out radiators.

Good morning! It's almost Friday! I really need my weekend so I can finish sewing my blazer. I haven't sewed garments in ages (at *least* 10 years) and I'm so excited about how this is turning out. But I hate it when inspriation hits and I have to go to the office instead. :)
Am really under the gun with my current project. We have a hugh deadline on the 15th and tons of data to make and format. I've got it all planned out. I'll get my part ready on time. Unfortunately, I'm expecting data from other folks who are totally freaked out by the deadline. Instead of knuckling down and getting the work *done* they call feak-out meetings where they sit around the table for hours talking about doing the work and how they don't have enough time. Argh!!
I'm sure there's already a Dilbert cartoon about this type of thing. :)

Oh, definitely c. No worries!
Only catch is that now I'll be humming those all day...
I really want to get a DVD set of G&S operettas one of these days. There are still a few I don't know the songs to. My cultural foundation is a bit crumbly... ;-)

Good morning! It's PAYDAY!! Woo-hoo!
L'il...Dilbert cartoons are often almost too close to the truth to be funny. ;-)
There's an Irish concert tonight I really, really wanna go to, and I completely forgot to get tickets! For some reason I was still thinking of it as being quite far into the future. Time is going wayyyy too fast lately.
Tomorrow starts the one month countdown until our journey!

My cultural foundation is a bit crumbly...As far as Gilbert and Sullivan goes, mine's downright non-existent! I've never seen a full G&S musical, though I'm familiar with some of the music, and like it. I'll have to see if Netflix has any available!
