and so it begins...

this is the first armadillo or "possum on the half-shell" I 've seen on the ridge... seen the tell tale signs around the yard tho... deep narrow holes were appearin'...
told the MDC I shot me a dillo... they said "good... keep doin' it..." I intend to...they destroy habitat, lawns and gardens... took this one at 20 yards... with muh .45... 230 gr FMJ hardball... went in through the right eye, exited the left... I was goin' fer a head shot... it'll werk...

Hmmm. Possum on the half shell.
The 'dillas come north as far as the winters will allow, their northern range limit seems to ebb and flow over the years. Hard winters and they die off or head for warmer climes. Not sure they have been found north of US 50, generally Lakes country is about as far as they come.
That were a vey nice shot btw.
