The Hobbit Hole XIX - Tomorrow we may come this way...
The Freeper Hobbit Hole ^

Posted on 01/27/2005 9:59:05 AM PST by ecurbh

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Tomorrow we may come this way...

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

Ookay...just got a survey form related to that job. Just an equal opportunity type of dealie...probably something everyone has to do, but still...I wonder if that means my stuff made it past the first elimination round? Hope so!

Well, I may hold up the new thread for it...

I need ecurbh's help. I have gotten pretty good at picture editing parts of photoshop, but I just can't figure out how to do the layers needed to put one thing behind another. It's not intuitive to me.

Hm...on the form it says to send it to a particular person, but I got it from the search committee guy. S'pose I should CC both?

I guess that's a dumb question.

I am stuck at my mother's until the phone company can get this router issue sorted out.

Last night, mom called with a phone emergency. She has VOIP through AT&T Callvantage. She is computer illiterate, or else she would fix it herself. I packed up the kids and trekked on over. Thought I had fixed it, until this morning. I have been on the cell phone with techsupport all day, and the best they can do is "call back within 24 hours". (Eeeep! 24 hours?) Her telephone line is completely offline, and I actually do need to go home...

Other than that, it has been a great day :-)

I would put the particular person in the "To" field, and cc the committee guy.

the search committee guy won't want it... I'd just send it to the one named.

ehh, send it to both just to cover the bases. Speaking of bases...

elf-boy has been assigned to a baseball team in our neighborhood. This is his first time ever to play. So I get this email from the coach. Only, I didn't know it was from the coach or that it was really for elf-boy. The opening line is, "you are officially a YANKEE". I about had a fit! ROFL! Then I scrolled down and it dawned on me that it was referring to baseball...

I think I'll send it to the person named and then send the committee guy a note to that effect.

Just send it to the contact listed.

The search committee guy ~shouldn't~ see it because it ~shouldn't~ matter. It's an EEO issue, and the contact you were given is probably in Human Resources. They keep it for statistical reasons, not for actual hiring purposes.

Agreed. The only one who needs it is the one on the form.

Sometimes these little things are a good test of who follows instructions ;~D

I think I flunked. ;-) I sent it to the person on the form, but also CCed the committee guy, who assumed I hadn't sent it to the person on the form and e-mailed to correct me.

Oops.

But I did do the right thing! I did, I did! Mostly. Just shouldn't have CCed him, I guess.
