The Hobbit Hole XIX - Tomorrow we may come this way...
The Freeper Hobbit Hole ^

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Tomorrow we may come this way...

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

WE've got snow on the way, too.

I'm so totally swamped at work I could just cry. *sigh*

Good morning!

We aren't supposed to get snow until late tonight, and it's only supposed to get 4-8 inches, but to hear people talk you'd think it was the storm of the century.

Sounds like the rest of the east cost IS getting a pretty wicked storm, though.

Good Morning! I never did get through the "Oscars" thread last night. Mainly I just scrolled through looking at the dresses. What was it with the hourglass shaped dresses this year? Some of them were nice, but for the most part, the women were either so skinny that they didn't HAVE an hourglass shape, or were so bottom heavy that the dresses looked stoopid! Then there were the 'faux-Greek' looks, like Natalie Portman's. It may not have been so bad if it had been in a different color. I loved the comment that she looked like she was wearing seaweed! LOL!

Weird and a little gross, but strangely fascinating...

Yeah, the dresses were mostly strange. I really don't get the pasty-white look. Yuck. These are some pretty people- they should wear pretty clothes.

It doesn't look like a low-backed dress...it just looks like she forgot to zip it.

IMO.

If you've got the runes, as well as tengwar, try how it looks with those. The Tengwar is cool but to me, at first glance, it looks Arabic. Or I'll try to pronounce it... lessee... "udwwyn udah", could be Welsh...

I've got those too. The "runes" are the printed version of tengwar, while what I used in the sample is the cursive version. The Common Speech used the elvish alphabet, but not the language. No examples of the dwarvish alphabet, or Black Tongue (thankfully).

I know what I posted is not very good for engraving, but it was more a test of the software. And I think Tolkien modelled his common speech on something like Welsh, whereas elvish was related to Finnish. From what I can tell, Black Speech must be related to Arabic.

Good morning everyone!

~sip~

It's a dreary, rainy day here in Miami. Temps are supposed to drop into the 50s tonight. *sigh* I wish the weather would make up its mind already.

I'm convinced that the reason everyone is sick is because the weather changes drastically from day to day. Hot, steamy low 80s one day and the next is rainy, lower 70s and by that same evening it's brisk, in the 50s with a chilly wind.

Heh heh heh... come to think of it, I wonder why I haven't seen daffs around here. It's been fairly mild weather for a week plus. Maybe no one plants them out here...

Morning... happy monday... bleah.

It's probably way too early where you are. It's too early here. I think I probably made the mistake of not planting these deep enough.
