The Hobbit Hole XIX - Tomorrow we may come this way...
The Freeper Hobbit Hole ^

Posted on 01/27/2005 9:59:05 AM PST by ecurbh

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Tomorrow we may come this way...

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

Heh...

I still say he'll be better lookin' in about another ten years, but I have to admit, he ain't hard on the eyes.

At least you can tell what gender he is this time.

Bah, pretty boys!

Just needs to mature a bit, in his case.

Unlike, say, Leonardo DiCaprio, who's a hopeless case. Ugh.

Yup, absolutely agree. I'll reserve judgement on Orlando until he's 40 or so. But Leo - well, the only reason I'd consider watching "Titanic" is to watch him drown.

Just stopped by the live thread to see how many people checked out after the monologue.

It was bad, but not unexpected. And not as bad as it could have been.

Heh... I turned it way down to keep my husband in the house... it wasn't what he was saying, it's the shrillness of his voice that set us on edge. We don't really know what he said. ;~D

You don't need to know. It was pretty direct. But if that's as bad as it gets, then it won't be too bad.

Did you see the Pepsi/Spartacus commercial?

Robin's bit about animated characters is funny.

What, animated films?

I hope "Incredibles" wins.

No, I haven't developed an obsession with Orlando... he's just practically the only LoTR actor present tonight.

Kate's there too:

That color does nothin' for her. Maybe it's just the camera, but...

You're right. I don't know why pale women keep trying pale colors in gowns. It looks awful on TV.

Remember this for your next ball gown. Jewel tones.

Kate B. just won best supporting actress for playing Katherine Hepburn in The Aviator.

First Oscar.

~applause for her~

It looks awful in person too. I have a blond friend who insists on wearing pale blue dresses when she should be wearing dark greens or purples or something.

I'm lucky, I can wear almost any color. Except pink. Pink doesn't look so good.

I think she'd look nice in red.

That yellow is pretty...but it doesn't work well.

It clashes with her hair, and makes her skin look a little green.

Royal blue for me...or red, maybe, though I've never quite dared to wear it in a big way.

We still have to go little-red-dress shopping someday. ;-)
