New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, |

Still round the corner there may wait |

Home is behind, the world ahead, |
Whew!
Washed the car - it was begging me to clean it.
Went to the library, got a week's worth of books.
Went to the grocery store, splurged a little to get some beef - I mostly buy meat at Wal-mart, but one of the local stores has a lot of beef specials and if you go while their cutting counter is open, you can get, say, 3/4 of a pound of roast.
Now... homework...
I went to the grocery and got a few supplies. Came back and made a batch of tortillas. I'm good at that now! I had a bunch made yesterday, but Stephen came by and snarfed them. ;-)
So...now I'm set for lunches for the week. Unless they stop by again...
Baby has Tim's hair.... bummer for a girl but... maybe they'll just let her wear hats. ;~D
That kid is going to be trouble. Look at her grinning to herself in that devious way.
You'll miss the snarfers when you've moved... I'll snarf your food for you, then.
Whoa, the roast is already smelling good. I just have it on the stove in bullion, with some onions and garlic, but maaaaan! And for the $3 I paid for it I should get at least three meals.
Oh, yeah, hats - I have been trying for the last four years to start a revival of ladies wearing hats to church, but so far I have not won a single convert. I always get remarks about, "Oh, that looks so nice" or "I wear a hat at Easter" but nobody ever does. I think hats are out for women this century.
She's a cutie!
I was gonna put her up on one, but they said no.
Stephen at least has the decency to tell you what a great cook you are while snarfing your food for the week...some of the others aren't as polite. ;-)
Yeah - I'll prolly end up bailin' her out one day ;~D
You should take over the job of cooking while you're at home so that when you leave, they realize how much they miss your skillz...
I was the only girl in the nursery when I was born, so they scotch-taped a pink ribbon to my head as a kinda joke. No hair to get in the way. I think I was about two before I stopped being completely bald.
I'm definitely hoping to take advantage of having folks to feed. ;-) And then maybe they won't grouse so much about my presence. So far, I'm getting LOTS of complaints, which kinda irks me.
Complaints? Sheesh! Dude, they suck. Don't leave your anime disks with them. Well, you can leave them with Margaret (by the way, since Margaret is such a cool person, is there a particular sort of food she likes? We should definitely go out for dinner the night you arrive to celebrate, I'll find somewhere cheap of the specified ethnic type)
You'll be there what, three weeks? And you're in Margaret's room, you'll help out with chores - I went home for three weeks at Christmas, the sibs were so happy to see me they didn't even ask me to clean a bathroom more than twice - is it because of the cats? Or are they just being sad human beings who are jealous of your grand adventure?
I guess I probably am way too sensitive, too. I tend to take any criticism literally.
And of course, the younger kids are spoiled for space. They each have their own room now, though I certainly never did! And therefore being asked to share and to deal with one more person bothers everyone.
It's mostly Margaret and Dad, though. Dad keeps saying stuff like, "What are you going to do with your STUFF???? We don't have lots of room here, you know." Um...first of all, I don't have that much! It'll go under a table in the livingroom. And we're talking about three weeks!! I think they'll live.
And Margaret, ditto, though she's given me permission to share her room.
I just feel very unwanted, that's all. And Stephen, who I'm really, really gonna miss, points out that that's just the way Margaret and Dad are, and not necessarily anything to take seriously. But it irks me, just the same.
The cats add to the criticism, of course...but they aren't the be all and end all of it. It's everything.
Hm...I'll ask Margaret what kinda food sounds good!
Yeah, and I'll bet you can leave half of the stuff in Van-sama, if you won't need much space between moving out and heading out.
Remember: absence makes the heart grow fonder! By Christmastime they'll be dying to see you.
Tell Sonya and Tim to cherish these moments. One day she'll be a schizophrenic teenager.
So...I know it won't be the same as the last three years, but are we watching the Oscars together?
I get a chuckle out of the fact that the only catetory in which I've seen all the nominees is "Best Animated Feature."
The Incredibles, Shrek 2 and Shark Tales.
Yep, I can store quite a bit of stuff in Van-sama if need be.
Speaking of stuff...they just came and got the bed and dresser (Margaret's taking those, and it was the one time they could get a truck), so I get to use the air mattress for the first time tonight...
Eep...I hope Halvah doesn't decide to knead her paws on it.
