Heh...they aren't quite THAT spoiled...

Though they have been at various times in the past, I admit.

Or at least Iams spoiled. Eukanuba is one level higher than that, isn't it?

You need to check with Talon DJ and ExGeeEye to see if they'd be able to grab a meal when you're in their areas!

Yep! One of the reasons I'm planning this far ahead is so I can figure out about when I'll be in certain areas. So far it's lookin' like we'll be in ExGeeEye's area at lunchtime on the second day and Talon's area the evening of the same day, or first thing the next, depending on how far we push it.

I'm tryin' to figure out if we can work in my grandmother, too...but she's not right on the route and I'm not sure she'd want to drive up to meet us, so I dunno.

Dunno. My cat doesn't like Iams...at least she doesn't like their wet food. She'll eat Science Diet before she'll eat Iams.

Oh great. I've got the wall sanded and ready to paint...the cat has been lounging in the spackle dust. Guess I'd better brush her out before she starts grooming.

FWIW when I drove out to KC I planned on 8 hours driving, stopping for lunch after 4 hours.

That sounds good... it depends on you. I always find it easier to drive a long way, rather than spending time in a hotel, but that's just me.

The one thing that would make this easier is if you had a cell phone with you, but I'm guessing Margaret doesn't have a cell either if they don't work in VT?

That's what I'm planning - of course, we can switch off, but eight hours of being cooped up is eight hours of being cooped up whether you're driving or riding!

Nope, no cell phones. I dunno how we'll work that. I suppose I could get one before I leave, but then I'm not sure how that'd work with the bills and all...so it probably isn't worth it.

Since we're neither of us experienced drivers in traffic, I'd rather drive short times and be fairly fresh than risk getting tired and making errors...so it's worth the extra time. If it were a route we were familiar with and if we didn't have the cats, it might be different, but as it is....

Well...it was only I driving and I don't like driving when I'm tired. Don't travel at night!

I'm totally a morning person and Margaret doesn't fully wake up until noon...by which time I'm getting sleepy. ;-) So I figure I'll drive in the mornings and she can take over after lunch.

We'll likely start early (night by Margaret standards), but quit early, too, like around dinner time. Won't have to deal with a lot of driving in strange territory after dark that way.

I left Chapel Hill at around 8:30 and stopped for the day in Nashville around 4:00 or so ( crossed a time zone doncha know). Left Nashville around 7:30 and make KC about 4:30'ish.

Just look over your plans and make sure you won't be too near a city at rush hour. Most of them won't affect you but I remember getting stuck for a while at one point.

Hi Pippin!

Please forgive the protracted delay in answering your post. We had DSL installed earlier this week, which was great, but hubby was also trying to set up a netserver as well to establish a network system for the whole household. I have been agreeable to this, because it means I get to have the study for myself!! LOL aren't I awful?! but its something he's been wanting to do so he can work on his own little projects apart from all the stuff I am having to do on my computer. This has taken a bit of finagling with the system and getting the settings right, which hasnt been easy. Has also meant I have been offline for several days. I havent even been able to blog!

So to answer your question, I did see your post...but because of the DSL stuff we've been going through this past week, I havent been able to catch up with you.

so ya like?! *GRIN!*

*sigh* I liked too. Especially the part about the snakes. LOL

Exactly!

Hey, we got the motor out of the Bug...just now. Took us forever, even though it's supposed to be easy. The stuff was just almost fused in place. Properly maintained, it shouldn't be so hard in the future.

I'll update the blog tomorrow or more likely, Monday. We're off to a hockey game here in a bit...Steve gets free tickets from the city!

You could get on of those pre-paid cell phones that only has the minutes you think you might need for the trip and a little extra for emergencies.
