Mmmmmm......hickory chips. Can't you use pecan shells if you don't have the wood? Semms to me I've heard of putting soaked pecan shells on charcoal before.
"Well, we're sweet people, but not THAT sweet!""
There's a septic pumper truck in my town with the name "Sweet Thang" painted on it.
Never heard about using pecan shells. I'll look into that.
Good morning everyone!
Morning!
...and was filmed in nearby North Bend, WA.
Alder is the wood of choice of northwest Indians for smoking fish...particularly salmon. Cedar is plentiful here but more pungent in its flavor -- and Pacific Salmon is already such a flavorful fish that the mellower flavor of alder is generally preferred. Alder is one of the most common, if not THE most common, deciduous tree up here in the Pacific Northwest. In the life-cycle of an evergreen forest, alders serve to prepare the ground for the big Douglas Firs and Hemlocks -- and as a result you find them in huge numbers right at the edge of an older evergreen forest.
Have you ever looked at a block of text, and have portions of it jump out at you, that seem to make sense, yet make no sense at all really?
For just a nanomoment, I wondered whether one should suck at the tail and light the head or vice versa.
So you guys are going to Idaho to ski? Sun Valley?
The poor snow levels in WA are going to be a real problem next summer, beyond the short term losses to the resorts this year.
Does that mean the Missus is feeling better? I've been meaning to ask you, but you've been scarce yourself!
LOL...I once saw a poster like that in the 70's -- kind of a psychedelic type thing -- had a guy with this salmon sticking out of his mouth and the caption was something like "a new way to smoke salmon". It was pretty ugly looking...and the guy was lighting the head, so that kind of answers your question.
Definately the other way around.
And thank you, yes, the missus is definitely feeling better. It was a rough winter for her, and she's still recovering a bit -- but it's real minor after effects now. We're both looking forward to seeing our nephew and her brother and his wife. And we're hopeful for some nice Rocky Mountain powder. Only there for four days, so it'll be like a real long weekend.
Yeah, we are looking at a bit of trouble this summer, when I look up at Mt. Rainier I don't really see any snow under 8-10,000 feet. Bare as can be.
Hullo! Well...just spent my last spare dimes until payday on cat food.
So I'm making beans and tortillas to keep me fed.
The cat food cost more than my food will for this week. Granted, it'll likely last them two (it's a small bag), but there's still something wrong with that picture.
Spoiled kitties...
Kitty must eat.
If Kitty ain't happy, ain't nobody happy. ;-)
If kitty ain't happy, human gets claws in the face at 3:00 in the morning.
Luckily mine know better than to do that...but Halvah will lecture me at length if food isn't a) plentiful and b) freshly poured. Even if there's some left in the bowl, she gets vey disturbed when she can see bottom, and tells me allll about it.
Miss Cat just looks at me like I'm the stoopidest thing on earth...like I should know better than to let the bowl go empty. She's a spoiled kitty, all right. Yesterday she got both tuna and slamon water.
I'm working on my wall today. Those guys sure did use enough joint compound.
But... but... the liberals always say Granny's going to have to eat cat food if we don't pay for her medicine! You mean pet food costs more than beans and tortillas or noodles?
