The Hobbit Hole XIX - Tomorrow we may come this way...
The Freeper Hobbit Hole ^

Posted on 01/27/2005 9:59:05 AM PST by ecurbh

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Tomorrow we may come this way...

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

You in?

I need to give you a quick call right now - just talked to the apartment people and I need to get them an answer quick.

Oooo! Hi, Rosie!

Better now! And how are you, Miss Moving-On?

I've got a little over a month left here, really! Six weeks, or about.

Starting to apply for jobs, though I'm wondering a bit if my applications will be scrapped right off because I'm not local yet. Only time will tell, I guess.

Doin' more job searching...

Boulder's quite a distance away, isn't it? And not a very nice place?

Yes, Boulder's quite a drive and very liberal.

Local areas include Windsor, Loveland and sort-of Greeley.

Ok, the deposit is placed, so we're committed. Do you have a number where the apartment place can fax you the credit-check stuff? I'd wait on filling that out until the closing (I think? maybe someone else knows better)

They'll tell me when I can switch apartments Friday. It'll definitely be before you arrive. Which means you get stuck with whichever bedroom I don't want ;-)

And today she made a commitment to really, really moving in with me! We put down a deposit on a two-bedroom apartment in my building - it's down the stairs and down the hall, should be a really easy move.

So now she really, really has to move.

Could she get a job with your school doing what she's doing at the job she's at now? Or something similar?

I'm a bit clueless...so that might be a dumb question...

Well, she might be able to do that. Let's hope they're hiring!

Hey, 2J!

I'm much better, though, for some reason, I'm all hoarse now..

And how are you? How's the Bug renovation going?

I'm glad you're feeling better!

I was just thinkin' earlier, when Corin was talking about being sick...other than my occasional bouts of vertigo, I've not been ill in a long time. Neither have the boys, Matthew had one episode of nausea that quickly passed recently and that's it.

That's really what I'm hopin' for, 2J...I mean, I really like my current job! I like being in a happening place with the various seasons that happen in education, though it's likely I could make more outside of academia, I guess.

The job I applied for today is support for one of the colleges in the university system. That'd be awesome, but I'm not totally convinced I'm qualified - and there's always the chance they won't even peek at my resume because my contact info isn't local yet. But keep me in your prayers!

Woohoo indeed!

And for the cats, all they said is they need a deposit (half is refundable), and if they AREN'T declawed, I should provide a scratching post. Done and done. ;-)

Thanks for the local area info...I see a lot of jobs for Boulder, but I figured that wasn't anything I should go for unless I get desperate...

I can probably figure out a fax number. I suppose I could have it faxed to work, but it's in my boss' office, so I'd wanna warn him first. And I'd rather wait until after the closing, yep. I dunno that it'd make a difference since they probably don't have that information on my report instantly, but it wouldn't hurt.

I'll probably set up all my music stuff in my bedroom so I can practice without driving you completely insane...instead of playing at top volume in the livingroom while people try to talk, a la my brother Stephen. I love the kid and all, but...

I'm much better ... just sleepy now.

You know, what you two are doing is very exciting, very cool! What's the next step?
