The Hobbit Hole XIX - Tomorrow we may come this way...
The Freeper Hobbit Hole ^

Posted on 01/27/2005 9:59:05 AM PST by ecurbh

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Tomorrow we may come this way...

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

What's the deal with the distributor?

I know the bit about Stuning the Beeber and the Vey Hugh Series Box Fan; are there more inside bits to be learned?

:)

Well, finished another bow, a 50#er, since I had a stave left. It has a few violations, but I decided to go ahead with it anyway...I think she will be OK.

Fired an arrow at full draw at a palm tree from a distance of 20 yards, around an hour ago, showing my wife's cousin how it shoots. Am now trying to figure out how to get the arrow out of the tree.

Maybe if I just leave it there it'll come out on its own after a few days, like a splinter.

It's from "The Sound of Music" where the nuns at the abbey steal the distributor or the starter or something off the Nazi's car.... Allowing the Von Trapps to escape.

It's an confession of sin, but not an honest one, because you think you're actually doing something for the greater good. ;~D

Nah, it's just that you feel so smug about what you've done, you're not really sorry about it at all. Greater good my hat, it's just fun to play with trolls and morons.

Heh... yes... lack of real remorse is an important element.

Anyway it's better than trying to do obnoxious programming stuff... I think I've achieved all that could be hoped this weekend. Maybe in class we'll get some lessons that will make this make more sense.

Now, "Bless her heart" means "what a moron" in Southern, right?

Depends on the context and tone of voice. ;o)

Afternoon Sam - wood bows and targets of opportunity, been there ~ several ~ times. As I see it you have a couple of choices -

a. paint a bullseye around the arrow and leave it.

b. tape a picture of Osama to the trunk with arrow ending up between the eyes and leave it.

c. using a piece of rubber or gripper material and pulling slowly straight back. Grap the arrow shaft as close as you can to the trunk of tree. Good luck.

Been working on some new arrows. Shafts are all sealed, need new knocks and points, these new ones are 5/16ths not the 11/32s I have been using. Trying to match spine to bow a bit better this spring.
