The Hobbit Hole XIX - Tomorrow we may come this way...
The Freeper Hobbit Hole ^

Posted on 01/27/2005 9:59:05 AM PST by ecurbh

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Tomorrow we may come this way...

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

So...I can safely keep Pepsi, yogurt, leftover soup, vegetables, pudding...in the fridge without worrying about them disappearing...

Absolutely... just don't eat yogurt around me, the smell upsets my stomach.

However, large pieces of meat may be liable to disappear without notice.

I tell ya, those credit card people thought they had a cash cow with us.

"Oh yeah, these folks pay the minimum balance...a little worisome that they hardly ever use the card, but the times that they do are big purchases! We'll just keep charging them interest and they'll just keep paying the minimum...we're happy. Hey...wait a minute...what's happening? They're paying their balance off in FULL??? No! Nooo!!

Nooooooooooooooo!"

Heh heh heh...

I hate it when you talk to someone for quite a long time after lunch and only realize you had lettuce in your teeth AFTER they leave...

I used to go on break at my Schuck's Auto Supply job in high school, only to find out I had a big greasy hand-print on my face from a set of brake shoes someone had handed me two hours earlier.

I hope I don't ever have to get a credit car. I'm sure it'll happen someday, but those things are just bad news.

I have lots of sense of adventure, but not when it comes to food. I make up my mind whether I'll hate a food just by looking and nothing can make me change my mind. I know, it's silly, but that's how I am.

I inherited that from my dad. He doesn't eat bread, among a lot of other things. Who doesn't eat bread?

Heh...yeah, that'd make you blush...

And a few months ago I got some new kind of chapstick...supposed to be windproof and waterproof and whathaveyou. It's been really dry, so I had lavished it on, and did a bunch of stuff, but when I finally took a restroom break, I realized it goes on WHITE if you use even more than just a VEY tiny bit.

I wondered why people were lookin' at me kinda funny.

*blush*

By the way, you know that Colorado is vey dry, right? I carry chapstick and hand creme everywhere. I've seen people drinking (water!) in church, because if you go more than an hour without water you will start dehydrating.

What's the elevation where you live? The drive cross-country will give you a chance to acclimate, but the first two weeks will be a little strange.

I've heard it's dry. I have a humidifier, and I think I'll bring it. Not only is dry air hard on people, it can be devastating to wooden instruments. Baaaad things happen if they get seriesly dry.The elevation here is only 588 feet, or that's what I get in a Google search. So it'll take adjustment, I'd guess.

Oh, wow, yeah, it's going to be an adjustment. My hometown, in PA, is over a thousand feet, and it's just under 5000 here in Fort Collins, and it was quite an adjustment.

Yay, a humidifier! I can stop using my rice steamer! It's currently fogging up my bedroom windows, but oddly enough, not the mirror hanging on my wall. Must be reacting to the temperature difference.

What was the movie where there was a quote that was something like: "It was really creepy.... He had ~white~ tongue!"

I don't know!

I felt really dumb, though. Not creepy. ;-)

Hi guys! Just breezing in to check on things. Had the girls today for a bit of group schooling (semi). We're still feeling each other out.

CINDY LAUPER! AW HELL that brings back memories. You forgot her theme song for the Goonies!!! (...and WHO?! was in that movie folks?????) I loved her music. I recall lots of time over at a friends house hanging out and dancing to her album as well as Culture Club, The Fixx.

I am ALWAYS stuck in the 80s.

Pippin, I think Hannity's a great person too, I think I just got tired of the TV show's format...everything is "quick and dirty" in their program, by that I mean its a format of who can say the most in the least amount of time and who can get the last word. I guess I don't respond well to that and I got bored with the show in general. I *do* think Hannity has a VERY valid point when he says that the FReepers do tend to eat their own. I've been a part of this msg board since '98 (I know my username says 2000, but "Alkhin" is the username FR made me take after some kind of server meltdown they had and they wouldn't let me reclaim my original username, which was "YrWorship".) I think I have been coming here long enough to see just how the dust-ups, flame threads and general social atmosphere has panned out, and I *do* remember how viciously FReepers tore into Lucianne Goldberg and Matt Drudge in the 'old days.' And for no good reasons either...at least reasons that *I* couldnt ever figure out. Those times were the reason why Lucianne decided to start a forum of her own and obscurely refers to FR by saying her site is "a salon, not a saloon." I do remember and can sympathise with Hannity. It seems there are folks on here who apparently post for the sake of tearing into whatever meat they can lay their hands on. Reminds me of Grishnakh, it does!

Anyway, having said that, I much prefer Hannity over O'Reilly. O'Reilly just plain pisses me off. Hannity at least is organized and focused when he is confronting someone about an issue. O'Reilly just seems to work out of only 3-4 issue bins and if he can't figure out which one to put the issue in, he tosses it. I saw him blow off a family of a Marine killed in Iraq with only milliseconds to spare in the show, this after having asked them to come on and talk about it. Hannity I feel would have at least sat and given them a good forum to say more than what happened, and he wouldnt have blown them off by saying "well that's the media for you , you should know better."

GRRRRRR, that ticked me off.

Still, coming from an Aggie family, you'll have to forgive my jaundiced eye. If UT and A&M were talk show hosts, A&M would be Rush Limbaugh, and UT Al Franken.

Unless Hannity was simply being provocative because he knew the Aggies in the audience could take the jab. I dunno. I wasnt there.

Guess its easy for me to run off at the mouth without having looked into it myself.

Per the story : *GRIN!* I'm still gushy about it. :D
