The Hobbit Hole XIX - Tomorrow we may come this way...
The Freeper Hobbit Hole ^

Posted on 01/27/2005 9:59:05 AM PST by ecurbh

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Tomorrow we may come this way...

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

Heh... my Dad loves to obsess about how much water goes through the drain field.. and they do have some fancy low-impact systems that re-use grey water from sink drains and washing machines to flush the toilet.

Oh that would just be too cool to Steve. He loves that kinda stuff.

Our two biggest water expenditures would be the washer and my hot soak. I gotta have a deep hot soak every night.

We don't really have the option of moving to a duplex, and the rent here is VEY cheap.

The landlords have stepped up to the plate and done the minimum to get by so far... hopefully they still will... they own a lot of rental properties... but I still wonder how long they intend to sit on this property. When the floor under the hot water tank needed repair that approached the value of the trailer, they considered moving a new (used) trailer onto this place then, so hopefully they don't intend to give up and sell soon.

Well, your toilet bowl water might be a little cloudy and sudzy, but if that doesn't bother you....

Maybe just go up on your rent...

After we moved into the duplex, the air conditioning unit went completely south...they upped our rent to pay for it. Sigh. Of course, once it's up...it's never going down.

Ultimately we moved here.

I've lost count of how many years, but we need this place to hold out for a few more.

It sure works for us... nothing special about the house, but the horse-habitat is good!

He was kinda a "cleaner" fer a Rail/Transport company... when they had a location in trouble, he was sent for a few weeks to fire/hire/fix/terminate the problem... bein' a jarhead, he was good at it...

Bein' a jarhead automatically qualifies him for a Hobbit Hole pocket knife. I can send you a small supply of HH pocket knives to pass along to deserving folk.

Gosh, it's slow.

Half an hour...then I gotta quick straighten up before the lady comes to see the table and chairs!

That's certainly no reason to kill the thread.

Freepers are hacked off at Hannity...

Is he radio or TV? I don't listen to radio and I don't have cable...

Just got in an 'ahem' discussion with Steve.

Called him up to discuss the washer water situation...said we have the water directed into a tank of some sort and put a water activated sump pump to pump it out into the front yard.

He said "Just get one of those pumps that you pump up and down." A manual well pump, you know?

I'm like "What is this? Little House on the PRAIRIE?" I'm not going outside ever single time I do a load of laundry and PUMP the water out of a tank with a hand pump!

Sean Hannity has a radio show in the afternoons (in most markets).

In the evenings he's on "Hannity and Colmes" on Fox News. Alan Colmes is his liberal counterpart.

There's a love/hate relationship with FreeRepublic. Sean does some good stuff and he was a big supporter of the President. But he has a tendency to whine and be a self-promoter of his own books.

Thus, whenever there's a Hannity thread, one of the first FReeper responses will be "Sean Hannity has a book?"
