The Hobbit Hole XIX - Tomorrow we may come this way...
The Freeper Hobbit Hole ^

Posted on 01/27/2005 9:59:05 AM PST by ecurbh

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Tomorrow we may come this way...

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

Heavens no! I'd jump from the roof if that were the case.

Most are back and forth e-mails like this...

Client: Can you please send me a Record of Termination Form?

Me: Sure, here it is! *attach pdf file*

Client: Thanks, Ruth. You're the best.

Me: No problem. Just let me know if you need any other forms, OK?

Client: Sure thing!

Just December? Heck... I'd be jumping for joy if people around here would bother to clean up mail from before 1997.

I've got some users here with mailboxes over 5 or 6 GB. Not including "offline" archives well over 20+ GB.

I just don't get it.

I've tried to do disk quotas here... but the problem invariably ends up that the worst offenders are certain company officers that can always insist on blowing the quota.

One guy, an officer on the BOD, was so extreme that our only option was to buy him his own server. half a terabyte ought to hold him for a while... Of course... not... he filled it up right away...

Who needs this much stuff? Really?

Evening! Started getting my car ready to sell today. I hadn't even opened the doors in almost 4 months. The interior has a bit of a mildew problem that will have to be addressed. And it won't start without a jump. But once it starts, it runs fine.

hehehe...

It's amazing that anyone would need all that crap for so long. I can't wait to get rid of it as soon as possible!

On that note, I'm gonna grab a shower and a snack and watch TV for a while.

Good night!

Yah... sounds like my old truck. Let my Toyota pickup sit for about six months without driving it. Bad mistake. The mildew was there, but as it turned out, that was the least of the problems.

It had pennzoil in it. What I know now that I didn't know then was that pennzoil after a couple of months of sitting still turns into a sort of jell-o like substance. It may be interesting to form into molds but it by that point is useless as a lubricating fluid.

New engines for Toyota pickups cost about $6,000. I didn't know that before either. :-(

Now I'm a Castrol sort of person. :-)

Well..... it works fine for me.... anyway, here's winmag's post:

Here's First Sergeant Brady's knife set. Just got it back today from engraving. With luck, it will be mailed tomorrow.

I hate to say it, but there are a couple of slight screwups in the engraving, since they didn't follow my, or their, written instructions. First, on the ER, they left off "USMC" from his name. Fortunately, I told them to include the USMC emblem, so I hope this is acceptable.

Second, the CRKT had just "SGT Bradley A. Kasal" on it. They had busted him from E-8 to E-5. They were able to add "1st" to the line without it being too noticeable. They also forgot to use a larger capital letter for the first letters in his names, as we've done earlier.

I hope he finds these acceptable, anyway.

Roger that. I never heard of the Pennzoil problem before that. But ever since then I hear "oh... yeah... I'd never use that stuff... "

hehehe... swell. Love that Castrol GTX. Bummer now is that the Mustang likes to have 5w-30 instead of 10w-40. For some reason whenever I go into the local Shucks to buy oil, I'm always buying the last case of 5w-30 they have. Everything else is 10w-40. Yeesh.

the van likes 5w-30... I might have problems, but I buy gallon jugs in bulk when I find them... usually one oil change ahead...

That is amazing. Your comments were very interesting, too. I guess it's something a nurse would notice, but important, too, for anyone who may have to give First Aid sometime to someone who has had major blood loss.

Here's your sign! ;o)

Niters.

I think the change in oil lately is mainly due to these new small block V8 engines that develop and maintain insanely more horsepower now than they ever used to.

Five years ago my 4.6 liter with 260HP and over 300 ft-lbs of torque was pretty good. Now the same engine in the 2005 Mustang is good for over 400 HP and over 400 ft-lbs. Yowsers.

This is all still out of the same 4.6L motor. That's pretty much still the same displacement as the old 289 of yesteryear but with a whole new Yikes! factor.

400 HP out of a 289? Stay tuned... this isn't even the version coming in the SVT/Cobra program that has a supercharger and NO2... over 500 HP anyone?

Yikes...

:-)
