Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Tomorrow we may come this way...
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
|
|
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
|
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

You need to keep that picture in case the hospital tries to charge you for the visit. I wouldn't pay them a dime if I were you.

One post is not spam.
It's more like grabbing the brass ring as the carousel goes 'round.

For us, athletics weren't so big an issue - well, I did have to quit softball after middle school because the school district ran the upper-level teams, but I wasn't that upset. I know a lot of people who were. One good friend went to a Christian high school for his last two years just to play football.
On the one hand, as taxpayers homeschoolers are funding the team... but I don't like the "cafeteria" attitude of "We want this aspect and this aspect but not that one or the other".
Too bad about Jr and Brazil. On the other hand, I remember occasional guilty prayers that I wouldn't be "called" to any mission field in an uncivilized place like South America, so at least he's not totally focused on his own comfort.

Not sure I follow there. Football at least generates the larger share of its operating money from ticket sales. That doesn't always apply to other sports.
Jr. will be 16 in April. He's got time to go back to Brazil. Heck, theoretically I've got time to go to Brazil...
But I don't have time here. Later.

All other spam pales in comparison. ;~D
Someone told me in FRMail this morning that I "just want someone to complain about or something to complain about. Lighten up a little and you will be surprised how better you feel."
Clueless... You can call me a lot of things, but uptight and obsessively complaining is not one of them :~D

Lots of homeschoolers I've known like to take a science course, or want to participate in some school activity. In PA the school districts often encouraged that - except when it comes to sports. Sports they had a very strict all-or-nothing rule, which I'm ok with. Of course we completely avoided the school - I set foot in the local high school twice, for the PSAT and SAT. And they didn't want me to even take the SAT.
But anyway, the attitude of the homeschoolers who want to make use of the district resources is that they're supporting the district with their tax money and they're not seeing anything for that - which applies to anyone who doesn't have kids in school, too, but homeschoolers and private schoolers pay on top of that for their own kids' education. So I'm saying I can see either side of the argument - but if the rules say "must attend school to be on the team", then that's how it is.

I see you've been dissin' Walmart... Is that the thread you got freepmailed on, or the retrievers?
I respect people's choices not to shop there, but I shop there myself because it lets me eat like a real human being, not a graduate student.

Heh.... no actually, it was on a thread from way earlier, the guy waited two days after the thread to reply to me. He's late and it makes no sense even if you saw the context. Mine wasn't even a complaining post!
