For us, athletics weren't so big an issue - well, I did have to quit softball after middle school because the school district ran the upper-level teams, but I wasn't that upset. I know a lot of people who were. One good friend went to a Christian high school for his last two years just to play football.

On the one hand, as taxpayers homeschoolers are funding the team... but I don't like the "cafeteria" attitude of "We want this aspect and this aspect but not that one or the other".

Too bad about Jr and Brazil. On the other hand, I remember occasional guilty prayers that I wouldn't be "called" to any mission field in an uncivilized place like South America, so at least he's not totally focused on his own comfort.

Not sure I follow there. Football at least generates the larger share of its operating money from ticket sales. That doesn't always apply to other sports.

Jr. will be 16 in April. He's got time to go back to Brazil. Heck, theoretically I've got time to go to Brazil...

But I don't have time here. Later.
