The Hobbit Hole XIX - Tomorrow we may come this way...
The Freeper Hobbit Hole ^

Posted on 01/27/2005 9:59:05 AM PST by ecurbh

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Tomorrow we may come this way...

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

Well, according to the handy list of Latin phrases that Ramius gave me a while back it says, "I can't hear you. I have a banana in my ear."

I love that list. I use it a lot.

See this rack on top of this Beetle? This is what I want for My Precious...someday. They're pricey.

See this VW bus? Steve and I want to get one of these and restore it too...someday...for after when the jedis are gone from home.

Hit the highways in it and see the country.

I tell ya, there's just no one in the world I'd rather just hang out with than my family. I like my friends and all, but I sure love my family.

Driving around this country with Steve in our retirement years just sounds heavenly to me.

I tell Big'ol nearly everyday that coming home to be with him is the highlight of my day.

But he's on business travel this week so the pups and I are lonely without him.

My grandmother had one of those at one point. Did a lot of traveling. Hers was a little newer than that one, I think. 70s, I'd guess?

How long have you been together?

Steve and I have been married 13 years this past December and dated off and on (mostly on) for four years before that. He's the light of my life and the jedis are the icing on the cake.

I gotta go, you guys...Steve'll be home soon and you know how grumpy he gets if I'm on the computer!

He really is looking forward to Shootmoot, though. The visit with OT did a lot to calm any fears he had about meeting with people I meet online. He thought she was real nice.

Big'ol came into my life just after I had 'given up'. I was fed up and looking to pull up stakes and go somewhere different. I ended up in MD and voila - there he was. :)

My parents had a VW van of that era, and moved from Maryland to AZ in it. Then they replaced it with a 1980 model, similar to this one, but blue instead of yellow. And in fact, they added curtains so the whole family could sleep in there during a cross-country trip one summer.

They still have it (the engine has been rebuilt at least once), but now it is just used for hauling stuff around town, from Home Depot, to the dump, etc. Its days of long trips are long since over. But all four of us kids learned how to drive in that thing.

Hey Guys! Happy Valentines Day!
Corin, thanks for the "Valentine's Day" ping. . .very purdy.

Did some speed reading to attempt to stay "caught up" better here at the HH, but I forgot most of what I read.

Guess everyone is gettin' ready for that special Valentine's evening.
We are in a "2004 was a bad year and we are still broke from it all" mode.
I DID go to HEB and bought Terry a 2/$1 box of candy. I splurged and got the 2 boxes, but hey. . .
and a cheap bottle of wine. . .$5.38.
Our cozy "dinner for two" will be canned turnip greens and black-eyed peas with the soothing sounds of all "Fox News" all the time, playing in the back ground.

and I hear Terry hollering for me even as I write . . .

THIS is the one I was talking about, but it's kinda pricy. I'm sure I've seen it for less, but I'd have to look.

THIS one is nice, too, and it's made by Thule, which is a good brand for car top carrying stuff, though it is less expensive that the first one I linked.
