The Hobbit Hole XIX - Tomorrow we may come this way...
The Freeper Hobbit Hole ^

Posted on 01/27/2005 9:59:05 AM PST by ecurbh

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Tomorrow we may come this way...

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

I like it. You're offering a criticism, but you're also offering a solution. The network can show everyone they're making it possible, but the families can chat in private.

But I feel really dreadful now.

Vick's Vap-o-Rub and a Hot Toddy (think warm Whiskey Sour)

Definitely the Vap-oRub. I'd do the alcohol if I didn't have homework... and I'm wary about drinking when I'm sick...

With all that's been going on we mutually decided to play it low key. We're in survival mode.

Glad she's cool with that!

Ok. I'm fixin' to do three tasks that I don't want to do. I've been putting them off and it's been the wrong thing to do and it's bothering me and so now I've decided to do them and here goes.

I'll be back when I'm done.

Two down (replied to emails), one to go...a return phonecall...the worst one and the one I've been putting off. I'm a terrible person, Jen. You just need to know that up front.

Ok...gonna disconnect from the internet and make that call.

Deep breath. Deep breath.

DONE!

Whew. That was awful. Caused me a great deal of anxiety, but fortunately the person I was calling wasn't home and I just gave my info to the machine.

I should have canceled Joshua from his spanish class and never did. I tried, but the person's phone had a call blocker on it and I just blew it off after that and didn't make any further effort. Well, the actual teacher called today and I had to call her back and actually cancel.

She wasn't home, so I canceled using the answering machine! WHEW.

Bock bock bock.

Yeah, but we're all terrible people. It's just most of the time we're good at hiding it.

My sister says she wants a job as a psychiatrist just so she can tell people "You're a bad person" and get paid for it.

Anyway, it's one of the reasons I needed ice. I needed alka seltzer...there was no way I was making that call without an alka seltzer first.

And alka setzer tastes awful in warm water.

Yeah, I love baking bread! I've done garlic and dill, too. That's a wonderful combination, especially using olive oil in the dough. Mmmm...really tasty!

How long did that take? Hmph...some of it's been bothering me for several days and the spanish thing has been niggling at my conscience for months!

I'm a terrible person too, 2J!

I just looked at that cartop carrier. First of all, even though it's on one of the main streets in town, I couldn't find it! And I've mentioned my driving phobias... After turning and doubling back and driving this way and that, I FINALLY found the place, but I was shaking by that time. And I think I'm gonna drive halfway across country?

And then...well, it was buried in the snow, and had a bunch of empty paint cans and nails and stuff in it, and when I asked if it would even work with my van, the guy just kinda shrugged and said "I dunno. I guess." And kinda kicked around it and said "Maybe you can see?" I said something about it looking like the kind that attaches to the doors and I really want one that straps to the rack, which was basically a white lie...*sigh*

So I didn't get it.

I'm thinking maybe a soft carrier would work fine, and I could buy it new. Plus we could more easily stick it in a corner.

We'll cure you of that driving phobia, Rosie... or you can just make Margaret drive.
