The Hobbit Hole XIX - Tomorrow we may come this way...
The Freeper Hobbit Hole ^

Posted on 01/27/2005 9:59:05 AM PST by ecurbh

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Tomorrow we may come this way...

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

Can you tell we don't do Valentine's much around our house? SSQ usually buys me flowers or a plant, and we give each other Valentines cards, but frankly, I've never gotten into it or cared about it that much, so I can't offer any particularly romantic suggestions.

Will you marry me? ;-)

I hate holidays like this.

Heh...we're discussing this at the office right now. The whole "Hallmark effect".

With my parents...usually Mom would pick out something like a teddybear or plant that she would say Dad had given her. ;-) Since he paid for it, it was basically true, but...

I had a rather lengthy post typed up that had to do with courting, Valentine's Day, marriage and sexy lingerie all ready to post but decided it wasn't appropriate for a family thread and deleted it.

:-)

Just got this email through our Hobbit Hole website:
Hey, my name is [redacted]. I just wanted to say thanks for all that you are doing for the troops. I'm on the front lines in Iraq. My First Sergent got a knife in the mail and it had the internet address on it so he told me to check it out and see what it was about. It is a great thing that you guys and gals are doing for the troops. I am sure all the people gettin stuff from you guys are very thankful. Well, I have to go search for some knifes and stuff that Infantry guys like. Thanks for your time.
If anyone wants his name and email address to send him a message, let me know, and I'll freepmail it to you.

What do you suggest I wear? What? Oh...

Seriesly, that's a nice thought (no, really), but it just ain't exactly practical in the Stormhands' house.

And that's all I'm sayin'...

I know, make her a nice dinner. And get Jr to keep Luke and Nana out of the way just for while you eat.

You know, one Valentine's Day guilt trip is all I'm gonna be able to handle.

Only idea I can think of is to make promise tickets or promise coupons for something nice to do for her ie a massage or so many hours alone or a trip to the museum or somehting like that.

Thats all I can think of though. Sorry! I probably live in the least romantic household in the world, so coming up with Valentine's day stuff is not my forte.

Will it hold full ones? :D

The carabiner is rated for 5kg, or 5kN. I finally figured out what kg are, but why are they using kiloNewtons? Kilograms weren't good enough even for them? Is this a new metric-metric system?

When you already have kilograms (undoubtedly superior, since the Fr*nch thought it up), why switch to kiloNewtons?
