Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Tomorrow we may come this way...
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
|
|
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
|
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

Joni Mitchell - big name in the 60s folk music movement. Wrote "Clouds" I think...and "here come the clowns" right?? (Older Hobbits would know)

And "Both Sides Now"...that's the only other big hit of hers I can think of off the top of my head.

I keep meaning to ask...should I bring a TV? I have one...and a VCR. I gave my nice TV/DVD combo to my brother in payment for money he loaned me awhile back. *sigh* But I do have a TV I could bring, such as it is!

There are just some songs that cannot be re-created.
That said, I'm waxing nostalgic over my hair band days now. Maybe I'll listen to Bon Jovi on the way to work tomorrow.
He's a liberal dimwit, but what a cutie!!

Earlier this evening... at da waterin' hole... the cutesy little bartendette plops one of her own CD's into the jukebox. "I recorded this offa some of my Dad's music" she says. The jukebox starts blaring out Rocky Mountain Way. "You guys ever heard of Joe Walsh?"
Me and the other guy at the bar just look at each other, trying not to laugh or cry. [sigh]

It couldn't possibly be the same version then.
It was mellow, but not so mellow that it could be mistaken for easy listening.

Well, I've got a tv, and a dvd player. Not a VCR. Mine is a nice size, too. So don't bring a tv unless you think you want one in your bedroom once you get such a thing.

Yep, that's the one I was thinking of. Very bizarre songs, melancholy and a bit too obscure in its logic. I dunno...i was just a kid in th 70s....so much of that went right over my head.

From what I've seen on Google, Amy Grant did a version of the song too.

Nah...I don't believe TVs belong in bedrooms! Computers, yes...TVs, no.
But maybe I WILL bring the VCR. Not that people use 'em very often anymore. ;-) But it's the brand new one the kids gave me for my birthday, for reasons I'm not real clear on. I guess because they come over here so often to watch stuff!

I know what you mean... like these kids today who think "Six Days on the Road" or "The Race is On" are Sawyer Brown songs...
