mmmmmmmm....hotels with Internet connections....
Evenin' folks. We're here in Kentucky and it's cold. Supposed to get freezing rain on Saturday. Should make for a interesting trip home.
Coupla updates to report...
On the Nana front...heh heh heh...we likes her doctor vey much. First, the shingles are not getting in her eye like she thought (you know, she sits around and "thinks" she feels 'em there). But she talked about how dizzy she was an that she didn't have any balance. He ran some tests.
THEN he told her, "it's because you sit around all the time." Told her she wasn't using her legs and they're turning into spagetti. Told her the hip replacement cost to much not to use it. Said instead of us carryin' stuff to her she ought to be up cooking and doing the dishes. Sorta put lots o' stuff in perspective.
Some of y'all knew about Jr's Algebra issues this year. Not sure exactly what to do. He failed the first quarter. BUT, he managed to bring his grade up to a high C+ second quarter. Trouble is semester average has him failing by four points.
HOWEVER, since we were out of school, exams were cancelled. Teacher kept him after today to take a test to see if he could pull the grade up. He didn't. Of course he had no idea that he'd have to take a test today and hadn't studied since exams were cancelled.
THEN, because wife's sister and Luke were out, he ended up walking home. It's about 2 miles.
There's certainly the issue of him doing his part, but he HAS turned things around dramatically. And the school HAS screwed up several times on this. ~sigh~
The rest of the teams are cyphers to me, except for Hellboy and his ex-girlfriend. I'm rooting against them.
Thank you Bear!
I just got the case open and am taking drastic anti-static measures before installing the motherboard...
Hi Corin!
I had an anti-Corin-day, lots of good things (mostly financial) happened.
Joseph is without Internet connections and under a no games on the PC order cause, except for Biology, where he got a B instead of a B-, his grades dropped last marking period. He got 2 Cs, and that is not acceptable because we know he can do better. He spent a LOT of time in the last few weeks playing World of Warcraft in the early morning when he knew his big brothers would still be asleep and he could get on their accounts. He hasn't spent any extra time studying, and his grades reflected it. We may reinstall the Internet after this next grade report, we'll have to see.
I don't think they offer tutoring through the school. And we've pointed out that we aren't allowed to put him in a private class (credit wouldn't be accepted).
The bottom line is here that he has the concepts. And if he'd known he was taking a test today, he would've been better prepared.
He's made a lot of progress. We're concerned that making him take it again will destroy that.
It's a tough call, because he has to be responsible for the work he's done. And yet it seems like the system is screwing him over.
Don't feel bad. I solved the crime 20 minutes before Monk did on his season opener.
Nite folks. I didn't realize how late it was.
*embarrassed look*
Um, I think I accidentally bought the wrong power supply. The power supply cable doesn't attatch properly to the motherboard - it's too small. I assumed ATX power supply + ATX board = good, and the power ratings checked out...
Any advice?
The cable connector. I just figured out it will go in, leaving four open holes (two rows of two) at the end of the m/b connector. The motherboard also has an ATX12 power supply but I got that figured out.
Hmmm... from the manual...
"Please remove the sticker on the motherboard before plugging in while ATX power is 24 pins otherwise please do not remove"
Which I think means that the last 4 pins are optional. It might help if the manual translator had a command of English.
[sigh] Back for a moment... have been sitting here arguing health care policy with a Canadian and a guy on Medicare... I need a beer...
I think it means: remove the sticker, unless the power supply has fewer than 24 pins, in which case don't remove it.
Perchance, is the sticker in question only covering the last 4 positions of the MB connector?
