I sort of miss the gorgeous well-dressed candidates we saw on the first two shows and feel the casting director's pendulum has swung too far to the opposite end.

I agree, there will be no cover/calender girls out of this bunch.

Nor calendar girls in last season's Survivor, produced by the same fellow. But I did see a Reality Show Hunk 2005 calendar somewhere online in which Survivor winner Ethan from a few seasons ago appeared. And Reichen the "married" gay guy" from Amazing Race too. EeeeeUuuuuu

Oh, I beg you, add me to your ping list. I'm in need of humor and after witnessing Verna's meltdown and Brian's whupass sendoff.

John, on the Street Smarts team has the most potential so far. He seems like a straight shooter with a lot of practical knowledge and management skills.

No one really stands out in a positive way on the book smarts team.

I am of the opinion that by now Trump knows who he wants in the final four and is just weeding out the others. Or looking to bump someone up if his favorites screw up bigtime.

It was awesome to see Forbes. Helluva lot better than most of the rewards.

By nature the street smarts are much more independent than the book smarts crew. Someone who has suceeded and proved something right out of high school is going to be a lot less inclined to work as a team or take orders than someone who has done all the "group projects" of college. I would say that's why the street smart group will have a much more difficult time getting along with each other. Hence the fighting last episode. Also, none of them have any really specialized knowledge of marketing, law, or sales.

Conversely, the book smart team will not have good proven leaders. They are each specialists in their respective fields with no well-rounded candidates. I don't know how big a factor the quality of your college plays into their interaction with each other. I just can't see someone with a master's from Harvard taking orders from a Florida A&M graduate (or wherever).

Anyone who can overcome these obstacles on their respective teams will do well.

Thanks for your insightful comments. I'll watch for John this week, though so far, I cannot tell one from the other.

In the real world, people take orders from bosses with less education and smarts all the time. It's galling for sure. But employees have to put up with these things on their way up the ladder.

Catch the action, tonight at 9pm Est. Now last week Verna 'quit' for a little while. Trump was on Imus today and said that in tonight's episode someone just ups and quits. I'm not sure if Trump is still drunk with wedding bliss, or a second candidate actually does quit and leave the show. Tune in to find out.

Boring episode. Danny was a jerk, trying to get a "consensus" to convince Trump he should fire a guy who is exempt. BTW that jerk will probably be next. Danny was a poor leader, and a worse singer.

It went fast that's for sure. Did you catch the promo for the Apprentice: Martha Stewart? LOL now that one is going to have ratings.

I'd have to say that Michael was skating on thin ice. He was really a whiny little baby. I think hiring the event planner saved them from being totally blown out, but the executives were right - where was the marketing tie in? You would think Danny would understand the difference between a promotion and a tie in.

Agreed. I knew Verna was going home. Wonder what her issue was.

You would think they would screen these people a little better. I guess it's like boot camp, you just never know who is going to fall out. Something had to be going on that we don't know about. Danny was a total geek telling her in front of his team that if she wanted to stay home while the rest worked on the task, it was ok.

I'm not a gambling person at all but my bet is on the street smarts.

The street smarts had their nose to the grindstone. The book smarts were sunning themselves and eating expensive lunches.

What that sounds like is that the booksmarts were getting the streetsmarts to do their work for them without the streetsmarts realizing it. Who would you really say is smarter?

Trump is not only an idiot, he's a hypocrite. He fired two people in an episode last season, which goes against, or is at least inconsistent with, his "rules." The Morticia (Adamms Family) looking chick made a great point: nothing is absolute, and the fact that Michael abused his exemption should trump (pardon the pun) it.

Danny was hardly a jerk, but I agree he was a poor leader, but not because he was trying to build a consensus (leaders actually do need to do that). It was his inability to effectively prioritize and get his team focus on task. But at the same time, by that standard, I haven't seen an Apprentice show yet where every single member has gotten on board with any leader. They are in it for personal gain, and George's idiotic suggestion notwithstanding (no one know they can fire anyone), and everyone knows that if they can screw up a task, then its more likely than not the PM goes down.

In my view, from what was shown, there was clearly more excitement and more people at Danny's group's deal than the other one. I don't quite understand the rationale in Nestle's decision, other than just feel.

I wonder if Trump feels any pressure to hire a woman this time around, after hiring 2 white guys.

I've been asking that myself. Bottom line for the first two seasons: Trump picked white males. Sure, the runner ups were minorities but they also didn't get the job.

And did you notice the pre-episode "boardroom" with Trump tonight (third episode) with his own employees? Looked like an all-white male club to me.

I say all this just to say that the more Trump shows off his senior management, the more I can see Jesse Jackass and Rev'rend Al licking their chops.

The first two seasons, I didn't pick up on the show until late. But, on this series, there were just so many I would have fired right off the bat (or, more correctly, never put on the show in the first place). But I'm guessing the producers are really trying to find more unsuitable people for Trump to fire as long as they also sneak in a few ringers who are the ones he will eventually choose from.

Danny and Brian were no-brainers to fire and I know the loud-mouthed woman is sure to go soon. The horse-faced blonde hasn't done anything yet to get fired but she can't be expected to go deep into the show with that mug. And just wait until Erin's feminazi remarks get her in trouble.

The blonde who found the event planner (I thought that was a form of stationary - I didn't even realize it was an actual occupation) and the PM on the other side both showed themselves to be more competant than I expected. And there are several contestants (notably the two blacks that didn't walk out) who have received almost no face time. Either that means they are being kept around to fire later, or they just aren't that interesting or they are playing it smart.

My theory is to lay low and work hard early, knowing it's a long process. Follow orders. Don't make enemies or try to prove you are the smartest in the room. Only after the dolts have been weeded out, then start making an impression and stepping up. This way, you get to share the perks when your team wins and you hopefully establish yourself as someone others don't want to bring to the boardroom.

The peacocks eventually get shot down when enough people start to hate them. That's why it's a good idea to hold back and bring out your best stuff later in the series. At least, that's how I'd play it if I were one of the contestants.
