My name is Mary Katherine, and I reside in the state of Ohio. I am a registered Republican. I grew up in a small town with very strict parents, attend church every Sunday, and have generally tried to live a good and decent life. I have been married for 15 years, have 3 children, and I am a stay at home mother. I am personally opposed to abortion, I believe in small government, and I cheered when welfare was overhauled. I am personally opposed to gay marriage, and I deeply believe this country needs to do more about the divorce rate in this country. My father was a steel worker who didn't miss a day of work in 35 years. My mother was a housewife. I still visit them regularly even though they live 5 hours away from me.
I think if you met me on the street or at the supermarket we would probably like each other.
However, everyone on this board hates my guts. I voted for John Kerry, so, therefore, according to you, I am a pig with no values.
I come here, desperately trying to understand why that is.
If you haven't stopped reading by now, maybe I could explain the reasons for my vote.
I am a fiscal conservative. I find W's reckless spending troubling.
I believe in religious freedom in this country. So therefore, just because I personally oppose abortion, how can I expect every American who does not share my faith to abide by that as well?
I believe in the Constitution. Therefore, even though I oppose gay marriage, if the constitution affords gay Americans certain rights, who am I to deny them?
Finally, I do not believe the war in Iraq was executed in the appropriate way. I do not support it in its current form.
So there it is. You all hate me for only one reason - the vote I placed on November 2nd. My only hope is that someday, somehow, you could all have a little less hate for those who don't share your beliefs. Thank you for reading this.
Hmmmm.... where to begin? Since you just signed up today, how do you know we "hate" you? My guess is you've bought into the liberal definition of "hate". If someone disagrees with you, it's "hate".
As for why we "disagree" (sometimes pointedly), I think you listed the reasons. You may be a registered Republican, but you are NOT a conservative. I could go into specifics on all the items you listed, but I don't really think you want reasons as much as you'd like to pick a fight to say, "See? You ARE hateful.."
Seems like you are not genuine. Thanks for reading this.
What "certain rights" are you refering to? You oppose gay marriage, George Bush is calling for a Constitutional Amendment banning it, John Kerry is tolerant of civil unions, so Bush should have gotten your vote.
you believe in small government but want the government to do more about the divorce rate?
wasn't John Kerry divorced?
-good Thames, G.J.P.(Jr.)
In fact, he was.
Victoria Thorne.
Are we suppose to feel close to stupidity?
Yep, to liberals, the Constitution is a living document, unless you try to amend it with a conservative amendment, at which point it become sacrosanct and unchangable.
Keyword seminar poster.
You wrote: "...everyone on this board hates my guts."
Lady, until I happened to click and open this thread a few minutes ago, I had never come across you on FR. So your claim that EVERYONE on this board hates you reveals your monumental ego. There literally are hundreds of thousands of people who visit FR every day, and many thousands who actively post. To assume that they all are aware of you and your voting choices is the height of conceit.
I seriously think you guys all need some sort of anger management.
I'm not sure what a "troll" is. If you suggest I am not who I say I am, I described myself in detail above.
Do any of you read these comments and feel any disgust at all? How can you all be so incredibly horrible?
my thoughts exactly....I zeroed in on "her" 'small government should step in and do something about all these darn divorces' bit.
This "I am a Republican" line is soooo old. Seminar callers to talk radio wore it out many moons ago.
Go back to your left-wing mentors and tell them it isn't working.
I do not hate you. I think you are an idiot. But I do not hate you.
Logic like yours gives Amendment XIX a bad name.
Why is acceptance so important to you?
If you can't see what's wrong with Kerry and the Kool-Aide Kollective, it's not up to ust to tell you.
did I say the govt needed to do more?? no, I don't think I said that.
I don't hate anyone who doesn't give me a clear reason to do so, but I am puzzled by people who think GWB isn't fiscally conservative enough and then turn around and vote for a tax-and-spend liberal. What is the thought process here? You don't like something, so you vote for someone who's going to give you even more of what you don't like? It's just kinda screwy to me, that's all.
"However, everyone on this board hates my guts. I voted for John Kerry, so, therefore, according to you, I am a pig with no values."
I don't hate you. I just hate your liberal values. And you shouldn't call yourself a pig. There will be enough insults in your life without doing them to yourself.
