My name is Mary Katherine, and I reside in the state of Ohio. I am a registered Republican. I grew up in a small town with very strict parents, attend church every Sunday, and have generally tried to live a good and decent life. I have been married for 15 years, have 3 children, and I am a stay at home mother. I am personally opposed to abortion, I believe in small government, and I cheered when welfare was overhauled. I am personally opposed to gay marriage, and I deeply believe this country needs to do more about the divorce rate in this country. My father was a steel worker who didn't miss a day of work in 35 years. My mother was a housewife. I still visit them regularly even though they live 5 hours away from me.

I think if you met me on the street or at the supermarket we would probably like each other.

However, everyone on this board hates my guts. I voted for John Kerry, so, therefore, according to you, I am a pig with no values.

I come here, desperately trying to understand why that is.

If you haven't stopped reading by now, maybe I could explain the reasons for my vote.

I am a fiscal conservative. I find W's reckless spending troubling.

I believe in religious freedom in this country. So therefore, just because I personally oppose abortion, how can I expect every American who does not share my faith to abide by that as well?

I believe in the Constitution. Therefore, even though I oppose gay marriage, if the constitution affords gay Americans certain rights, who am I to deny them?

Finally, I do not believe the war in Iraq was executed in the appropriate way. I do not support it in its current form.

So there it is. You all hate me for only one reason - the vote I placed on November 2nd. My only hope is that someday, somehow, you could all have a little less hate for those who don't share your beliefs. Thank you for reading this.

I grew up in a small town with very strict parents (because they wouldn't let me stay out all night), attend church every Sunday, and have generally tried to live a good and decent life, which is, as we all know, how you get to heaven. I am personally opposed to abortion, since I survived my own 9 month gestation period, I believe in small government, since I know it exists, and I cheered when welfare was overhauled, until I read the actual bill, and found out that didn't mean more benefits - dang!. I am personally opposed to gay marriage, and I deeply believe this country needs to do more about the divorce rate in this country, you know, since I'm for smaller government. We live on a farm. It's great! Lots of hard work, but there's "rules" against people like me living in the city. :-)

Anyway....this troll reminds me of something that happened not long ago. We had a skunk in our chicken house. The hens were terribly upset and it was a racket we could hear 85 yards away up at our house! I approached it from a safe distance and when I saw it I said, "OH CRAP! A skunk!" ...and I ran back some distance. I've had experience with the distance, and accuracy of skunks before so I wasn't taking any chances.

The skunk saw me and turned and said, "OH! Excuse me! I was just visiting your chickens. From a distance, I thought I could detect little dabs of egg yolk at the corners of his mouth. I said, "YOU are a skunk! Get out of my chicken house!" The skunk smiled and said, "I am MOST certainly NOT a skunk! I Sir, am a "concerned citizen", checking on the conditions of your chicken house, and might I mention...it's DEPLORABLE!"

Then he continued, "I Sir, am your friend! I'm going to help you with this sanitation problem that you have here! You obviously are aware of this problem aren't you?"

At this point, I realized (as with leftists), that he changed the subject from what would have been originally a skunk stealing eggs in my chicken house, to a sanitation problem of the chicken house ....and I shot him 9 times with the AR-15 that I had brought down the hill with me to check on the noise and racket in the chickenhouse.

Most of this was simply illustrate a similarity between leftists, and a common egg stealing skunk. But a good portion of this story is true. :-)

Like a true leftist....the skunk left a big mess, and a TERRIBLE smell even after I blasted him to smithereens!

I believe in religious freedom also!!! Just because I personally oppose MURDER, or theft, or extortion or ...(fill in the blank) how can I expect every American who does not share my faith to abide by that as well???

The answer - - because we have laws that are based on values (most times RELIGIOUS values). Society gets to set the bar, place rules, make laws against or for, what it deems to be the best for SOCIETY. It is not about what individuals think - it is about what society thinks.
