Are all Conservative Women Religious Fanatics (Vanity warning)??
1/10/05 | Myself

Posted on 01/10/2005 2:25:45 PM PST by non-religious-conservative

Okay. Flame if you want. This is what you'd probably call a vanity. Yes, I am a new member, but I've lurked here for years. And no, I'm not from DU!!! However, I am asking a serious opinion here, not trying to start a flame war. I am an agnostic. But I am a conservative. I am anti-abortion, think gay marriage is wrong, I hate high taxes, and think the Dept. of Education is a bunch of shiznit.

But I can't meet a woman like me. All the girls in my age group (I'm 20) are either flaming liberals, or, if they are conservative, they're Jesus freaks. I don't mean to offend anyone but that's the best description I can come up with. Does a non-religious, or "libertarian" type, young, conservative, SINGLE female exist, or not?

I'm in the same dilemma my friend. That is why most girls I have dated have been apolitical.

1st - welcome
2nd - conservative in politics does not alway, but often, means religious
3rd - we here at FreeRepublic often get into debates on religious topics with many faiths being represented.

Now to your question:
I'm of the opinion that women tend to be more emotion and by inference, more "extreme" than most men I know. When they form an opinion, they tend to let that opinion stand and will require LOTS of effort in order to change that opinion. Having said that, I will agree with you.

How to find a non-religious conservative - well, that will be tough but I can give you some areas to go look. Look for strong fiscal conservative women. You will find them as small business owners, perhaps working on election campaigns, you might even look to a church (I know but hear me out) as many have singles groups. From there you could find a "Jesus lover" but not a "Jesus freak". That person you want to become friends with and then look to her friends for potential mates.

Lastly, I am a Christian conservative. It sounds to me like you have not yet developed a personal relationship with Christ. I would highly encourage you to do so. You will find that your life will make a lot more sense when you come to know Christ.

One last recommendation. Read the book of Proverbs - it is the self help manual for your life. It is lessons in wisdom from the wisest man on the face of the earth. Wisdom is a greater treasure than gold, pleasure, love, or happiness -- because it will help you to find all of the others.

No. There are no libertarian women, single or otherwise.

That's basically me, too.

But I'm no help to this guy, I'm dating a liberal and have found that conservative women of any kind are a rarity 'round here.

I"m exactly what you're looking for...too bad I"m 10 years too old for ya=).

I"m conservative and athiest and I was made, not found. When I met my husband, I too was a flaming liberal. It was only through my love for him that I came around, I knew I could either have my politics or his love - not both -, and started to listen to what he was saying. After much patient effort on his part and the reading of lots of Ayn Rand, it started to sink in and now I"m a flaming athiest conservative=)

I wish you all the luck in the world. And encourage you to be a man that a woman will give up her liberal ideals for. The good ones will listen, just be patient and don't accept anything less than what you want.

I'm not agnostic, but see no reason why an agnostic can't be conservative.

I thought the liberals were the ones that were exclusive.

I thought the poster was a young woman looking for others with similar values, maybe trying to broaden her social circle.

The "hot" question was for my own personal use.

Oh my God. That is the funniest thing I have read today on FR! That's one of those times you can't make eye contact with the person you are with or you will just bust up.

It's ridiculous to assume that people who do not believe in God are constantly running wild. I have friends who do not believe in God, yet they are smart, sophisticated, and act like perfect gentlemen / gentlewomen.

Quite oppositely, like a certain comedian once put it, how often do we hear crazy musicians "thanking God" for the ability to make music about violence, drugs, etc...

Don't get me wrong: God's great. But He's not the only reason people are sane in this world.

One can be moral without being Christian.

You can't be agnostic and be Conservative.

Agnostic: One who believes that it is impossible to know whether there is a God.

Through God there are absolute truths, and right and wrong. And there is a God.

If you don't believe in Universal truth, your a moral relativist.

Actually, I tend to find that if you are going to date a Democrat, go for an "ethnic" Democrat (Latinas, Filipinas, Asians, etc). They may usually be registered Dems, but aren't as obnoxiously liberal as their Euro-American counterparts.

I'm from New York, and currently live in Seattle. Conservative women of any stripe are about as common as a palm tree in Antarctica.
