Are all Conservative Women Religious Fanatics (Vanity warning)??

Okay. Flame if you want. This is what you'd probably call a vanity. Yes, I am a new member, but I've lurked here for years. And no, I'm not from DU!!! However, I am asking a serious opinion here, not trying to start a flame war. I am an agnostic. But I am a conservative. I am anti-abortion, think gay marriage is wrong, I hate high taxes, and think the Dept. of Education is a bunch of shiznit.

But I can't meet a woman like me. All the girls in my age group (I'm 20) are either flaming liberals, or, if they are conservative, they're Jesus freaks. I don't mean to offend anyone but that's the best description I can come up with. Does a non-religious, or "libertarian" type, young, conservative, SINGLE female exist, or not?

Conservative women of any stripe are about as common as a palm tree in Antarctica.

That's funny. Statistically, single women are much more likely to be Liberal and married womem with children are more likely to be conservative.

That's true. I am only 27 but what I know now vs. at age 20 is amazing.

When it comes to morality, what is the point if you don't have God in your life? Society doesn't care, in fact it encourages Immoral behavior.

I'm just egging on the notion that morals decend from God. Not from Conservatives, not from liberals, not from independents, not from the Constitution.

The worst thing about women in New York is that they combine political liberalism with a greedy, high maintenence lifestyle. Women here in Seattle may have awful politics, but at least they don't ask you "how much do you make" on the first date (unless they're Asian).

I vote for Repubmommy and rmdupree, that latter of which I have met in person. Both are already spoken for, however.

No. Not even most, but a lot are. Good luck to you. It can be exasperating.

I want a girl that won't lecture me because I listen to death metal, or watch "bad" movies...

The easy solution then would be for him to date liberals!

I tend to think that good and evil, right and wrong transcend God. If God were a cruel tyrant who tortured His creations for amusement, that wouldn't make being a cruel tyrant who tortures your creations good. That God could choose to be a cruel tyrant or a loving Father suggests to me that being good or evil transcends God and that, perhaps, the choice between being good or evil is the way in which man was created in God's image.

Thanks for the reply, I'm just honestly curious how you arrived at conservatism. Most people I've talked with who aren't religious have gone for the "it's just a piece of tissue" lie as far as abortion is concerned.

You're right on the other two.

Another question. Which founding fathers are you referring to as 'not' being religious?

Actually, it's usually "marry her and have children and she'll start voting Republican." Read Harry Stein's book How I Accidentally Joined the Vast Right-Wing Conspiracy : (and Found Inner Peace) for details about how it happens.

You were been born and raised and now live in two areas of the country known not to be conservative-friendly. Have you considered relocating to the South or the Rocky Mountains or Plains states?

One can be moral without being Christian.

Boy, don't go spreading that kind of heresy around FR!

see no reason why an agnostic can't be conservative

Me either, I was just curious how he arrived there. If I had to guess I'd say he's in the minority as far as being a non-religious conservative.

He's probably thinking Jefferson, who was rumored to be a Deist, but I don't know if that is actually true.

FYI, I've not only convinced an atheist that abortion was wrong (by convincing him that the unborn was a person) but turned him conservative enough to become part of the studio audience for the Rush Limbaugh TV show when it was one. In fact, all of my key arguments against abortion have nothing to do with relgion and everything to do with proving that what's being killed is the moral equivalent to an infant.
