As we approach the final weekend of the NFL season, many of us still hold diaphonous hopes that our team will be playoff-bound come Monday morning. (the Bills for yours truly)

I like the word "diaphonous".
An old friend from books of my teens.
That was used in rapacious seductive scenes.
And caused reactions cocaphonous.

The word also describes today's Ivied Towers.
LA Times, Chicago Post and The Old Gray Lady.
Whose intent is distinctively shady.
For the ire they feel for the Party In Power.

With words ugly and ribald and gaseous.
Preaching to the Choir with such drivel.
They'll brook no rebuttals or quiblles.
While brewing a witches stew most disasterous.

Fascism here. Racism there. Paranoia all over the place.
A camp would look good over yonder.
For the boys who love make-up and diaphonous lace.
If things look bad they'll just interview Jane Fonda.

After two days of this flu, I'm ready for diaphanous clothing. A little boa here a little boa there, et cetera.

There was no way I could have opened this morning.

Not only that, but it was flipping freezing in here these last two days. The fireplace has been going full time. We bought an insurance policy for the A/C and heating units. They'll be out today. Couldn't have them out yesterday. Would hate to spread this thing around.
