The Hobbit Hole XVIII - Though we pass them by today...
The Freeper Hobbit Hole ^

Posted on 12/20/2004 9:01:36 AM PST by ecurbh

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Though we pass them by today...

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

I'm really enjoying "A Well Trained Mind"

I'm glad. I don't follow the suggestions as far as doing outlines, etc. We started out a little late for demanding that of the kids. If I'd started them out earlier, I could have gotten them into that mode and they wouldn't even think twice about it. I use the book mainly for resource lists, lists of good literature, etc.

It's even good for those who have their kids in school, but want to supplement their education with 'afterschooling'. Apparently we did that with the older boys, and didn't even realize that's what it was called! ;o)

Good for you! His actions could have reflected badly on your whole group! I hope he learns a valuable lesson; if he cheats, he WILL be caught.

I have a calzone press that I've never used. Joseph keeps bugging me to make some. Maybe tomorrow... He may not have school because they're expecting another 3-5" of snow, and it doesn't start falling until about 5am, so that means it will be nice and slushy just about rush hour. Delightful.

Yes, we cheered when they got eliminated too! The after-the-race interviews they showed, where the couple were commenting on how they felt closer than ever, just amazed me.

I hope so too! He's a foreign student, but in a graduate level class there's just no excuse. We found one paragraph in a four-page document that we think he MAY have written himself. The rest was copied and pasted from websites.

Amazed and saddened. I felt sorry for her but honestly she should get a clue and get out.

Just us... not much here.

It was good though, in hindsight that I was forced to come up and spend the weekend at the bachpad. Ended up doing a major clean-and-organize thing. Wow... did it need it. It's almost presentable now. Even when out and got some more furniture... end table, shelves...

OK... we need a bulletin board, so that the day-shift can leave some notes for the night-shift on all of the important goings-on. :-)

Yah... got a real nightstand to replace the cardboard boxes that were holding up the clock radio. Then got some more wire rack to put stuff on... it doesn't look so bad when junk is on a shelf as opposed to just being piled on the floor. Got a coat rack... for... coats. Even got a little soapdish so I don't have to chase that little bugger all over the counter anymore.

I'm livin' the high life, I tells ya.
