The Hobbit Hole XVIII - Though we pass them by today...
The Freeper Hobbit Hole ^

Posted on 12/20/2004 9:01:36 AM PST by ecurbh

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Though we pass them by today...

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

Bakshi?

Fie! Pox!

Fear! Fire! Foes! Awake!

Seriesly, I saw Bakshi and the RB Hobbit and RotK at a local store last week, and almost bought it just for the hisoricity of it all.

Bought a collection of Invisible Man movies instead...

I don't care what sort of conservative paradise it is, I could never live somewhere as flat as a lot of the midwest. It's boring just to drive through. Had to go to a funeral in Iowa once. Almost died myself trying to eat the food there (I recall instead of real salad, they had jello salad, and the sandwiches were ham-paste on buttered bread.)

Kayaking is a lot of fun. I like those nice still lake or river waters myself. Don't need no white-water!

Evening winmag - excellent job on the knives. I can add, having been the lucky bidder on the folder knife below the original HH one, that the Ka-Bar is a excellent knife, more suitable for ambidextrous use, and is my daily carry. (the original HH is for special occasions).

That soup sounds good, but why is it called GARLIC soup? Seems like it has more tomatoes, squash, and garbanzos than garlic!

Yeah, well...never expect accuracy from a movie wherein it's pronounced "Sellaborn".

I didn't use Seton; I devised my own. After the first week or so, they were mostly working on their own. I was just the slavedriver making sure they got it done. ;o)
