The Hobbit Hole XVIII - Though we pass them by today...
The Freeper Hobbit Hole ^

Posted on 12/20/2004 9:01:36 AM PST by ecurbh

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Though we pass them by today...

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

Right, so I'm chugging water here... how much am I supposed to drink? :-P

Half your weight in ounces.

I thought it was 3/4 your weight. I don't know where heard that though. Safe to say you should not drink less than half your weight. I tend to get a cold when I let myself get dehydrated. Not a real cold I think. Mainly just stuffed up and dried out sinuses which is about the same.

Good morning all!

Be careful of that Valsalva Maneuver, Rosie!

We're working hard, trying to get ahead in school so we can take tomorrow off for the Inauguration. Expect me when you see me!

No, for most people that would be too much. I was basing my comment on a the "water cure" diet that says you should drink half your weight, converted to ounces in water per day.

Thus, a 180 lb. man should drink 90 ounces of water per day. That's a lot. More when you're not exactly the "average" dwarf size.

I think the rule is 8-10 glasses per day.

Either that or everyone's off using the facilities...

Sigh... so I'll just keep reading translated-from-Japanese-by-way-of-Chinese scanlated manga. It's still the better choice.

Lessee... nah, I can't drink that much water in a day. Maybe 3/4 of that.

I'd really like 10-12. Or so.

*sigh*

This has been a really lousy snow winter. And what's the good of cold if it has no snow with it?

~Very~ unusually warm here...

Click for Olympia, Washington Forecast

Warm enough that some pollen or mold has awoken from hibernation, and is setting off my allergies. Ugh.

It's warm here too! I've got the house open, even! Washing clothes.

I pick up My Precious this Sunday! Steve gets the trailer today.

Oh, huzzah! I thought it was going to have to wait until spring break?

Lovely and warm here, too. I have to finish up here so I can go home and clean before my friends come over.

That's what I thought too...but Steve was able to get the trailer. His boss is lending it to him.

Over the Christmas holidays, his boss borrowed our shop to store the boat he got his son for Christmas. Christmas eve, very late at night, he came and got it...

That made it easier to ask to borrow the trailer! :-)
