Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Though we pass them by today...
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
|
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

I'm beginning to be open to unusual explanations! On "The X-Files" those were known as "extreme possibilities".

Hey, Bear...what'd you think of Spiderman 2? You know, I think I liked it better than the first one and here is why...
They included young children in it.
My boys really love it. It was like the first one had a bunch of stuff geared for high school boys in it, but like they did a survey or something and found out that their audience was actually parents with kids! SM2 seemed much tamer and "wholesome"...to me anyway. There isn't anything I won't let the jedis watch in it...they still haven't seen the wet tee-shirt scene in Spiderman 1.

Heh, I guess, whatever works for you! I'm like LF, I like a nice solid box... and the fact that my el cheapo case has a side window and lights is pretty dang cool.
My new box's main duties will be bittorrenting, archiving anime, and serving as a test machine. Possibly not the greatest combination but better than leaving all that to my poor laptop. Do you know, do wireless networks signifigantly slow down bittorrent? At my parents' place I know my speeds top out around 110kB/s while here I've gotten close to 200, but that might be because I'm the only machine on the line.
Whoo-hoo, I'm exhausted but tonight I have anime. I'll leave the reading for tomorrow... and I've got an ethical dilemna because I'm really enjoying this anime but can't buy it, ever, since they committed the unpardonable sin of renaming characters.

T'aint a haint... there's a logical explanation. Ask an electrician to check it out instead of us nonspecialists.

Yes, I liked Spiderman 2 better than 1, as well. My reasons were a bit different though... I found 1 to be a bit of a downer. I thought it focussed too much on the negative parts of Peter Parker's life. In 2, the negative stuff was still there (more than in 1, even) but the focus was moved to show how Peter overcame all of the doubts, fears, and disappointments and didn't let them stop him from being a hero.

Definitely. Lots of competition for his ~prestigious~ title this year. *wink*

Yes! I can see that!
I knew very little about Spiderman before the movies...my kids like it...it's the only reason I ever watched it originally. Now I watch them a lot, especially this new one.
Same with X-Men. Never knew anything about them, but absolutely loved the movies mainly because I could watch them with my family.

You're only missing the really bad ones, with the exception of two people who have made it through so far. ;-D

I was very familiar with the comics long before the movies came out (about 20 years of collecting...) While the movies did change and re-arrange some things, I thought for the most part they were very faithful to the comics.
Unfortunately, the X-Men and Spiderman comics published today aren't really child-friendly. :(

How about the girl who sold her wedding rings for $$ to be in DC.
Heck, all she had to do was put a shout out on a bboard and someone would have given her a couch to sleep on.
