Heh...
Reminds me of Matthew's Star Wars Jedi Knight Outcast game...got a bit of smooching in it, which just embarrasses Matthew to death and I am sure I make it worse by saying "Awwww....isn't that sweet!" He just rolls his eyes and waits till he can get back to slashing away with the light saber...
A good adage is "voltage hurts, amperage kills." Something I kept in mind in working on "wimpy" 5-volt mainframe power supplies rated at 4000 amps. Those things had capacitors the size of office wastebaskets.
I'm dead tired folks. See you tomorrow.
That's what makes roses cool... we use them to represent love but they've got those thorns, too. A nice double-sided metaphor.
But not the subject of an action comic!
Someday he'll come to realize that a little romance makes the action sweeter. After all, if the hero's not fighting to defend someone, what's the point?
Mind, I prefer it when the hero's also can't tell the girl who he is or that he loves her... love stories just aren't fun unless they leave you nodding in sympathy now and then...
Don't most superheros have a trace of multiple-personality disorder? Superman, Spiderman, Batman, they've all got secret identities and alter egos... one could interpret the stories as the deranged concoction of diseased minds...
I think one needs a really tight plot not to have MPD just seem utterly ridiculous... which it shouldn't, since it's a real disorder but it always seems so cliche in stories.
And if they really wanted to protect themselves and their loved ones, they'd move to Montana and take up fishing. No evil supervillian would invade a city if there's no superhero waiting! It's against the rules
No evil supervillian would invade a city if there's no superhero waiting!
That's the liberal view of supervillian motivation. ;P
No, it's the artistic view. ;-)
Come on, we all know the point is for them to show off their evil in front of the only audience that can appreciate it - the hero. Why do you think the bad guy always makes the mistake of kidnapping the girl? He's not that stupid, he wants the hero to come after...
Bah... villains have to have motives. It's in the Rules. Then when the hero is captive, the villain goes on and on about his lost dreams and why that means he must turn New York City to radioacative slag and the hero gets to plan his escape.
It's the heroes who don't have motives. They're just Good. it's like a force of nature.
why that means he must turn New York City to radioacative slag
Have you read Watchmen yet? If you haven't, you really should... the subject of the villain "killing half New York" actually comes up near the end of the story...
Nope, haven't because I can't find it at the library and I think the B&N copy was shrinkwrapped... I'll get there one day.
I always figured they went after NY because if they tried to destroy, say, LA, no one would care.
Woo Hoo! You will no longer have any holey underwear!
Leia: I love you.
Han: I know.
In Return of the Jedi:
Han: I love you.
