New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, |
|
Still round the corner there may wait |
Home is behind, the world ahead, |
At least in public ;~D
I got one of those "6.9% for the life of the balance transfer" deals on one of my credit cards. I'm ordering 100 Hobbit Hole folders, so I can have a decent supply to smoothe the ups-and-downs of buying them 10 or 20 at a time. I'll buy them again at 10-20 at a time when I'm down to 50 on hand.
Got the following email from Djerry from Djibouti, telling him more knives would be on the way:
---------------
Richard, so nice to hear from you good folks again. The holidays were as good as could be considering we are 6000 miles away from home and loved ones but the kindness of you and your group helped make what could of been a sad time happy. The treats were well recieved and appreciated and the knifes were given away in a camp wide drawing where all who were here for Christmas had their names put into a hopper and had the same chance to win as the person standing next to them. The knifes had been displayed and were one of the most sought after of all the prizes and the winners walked away the envy of their peers. Yes, we will again put the resupply to good use and for all the people here at Camp Lemonier, Thank You.
Best Regards to the Hobbit Hole from one of the Wild Woodsmen. Jerry

Then, from g'and's brother Marines in Bagdhad, this email:
----------------
Hi Rick, My name is Major Damien ****. I am an Australian Army Officer in command of the coalition unit here you have been sending the knives to. I just want to say a quick thank you for what you have done for the soldiers/sailors/airmen in relation to the exceptionally fine knives you sent as gifts. They and I greatly appreciate the thought you and your team have put into remembering why we are here. We give the knives out when personnel leave theatre and they all look forward to receiving your knives as gifts.
Without people like yourselves as part of the team, it would make our task here just that much more difficult. Knowing we have support from people at home and in my case our coalition friends is greatly appreciated. Please pass on my gratitude to your team. Thanks again
Great update! Neat feedback for the knife pages too!
Thanks for the update.
Okay, the Stormhands' Christmas Extravaganza is officially back in ~theattic~. Managed to do it without falling into a) respiratory distress or b) Jr's room.
Didn't put the tree up there ~yet~. The box is falling apart and I'm considerin' using that as an excuse to get rid of it so we could get a new one.
Lil', you got that link to where you bought your tree?
That's the beauty of a real tree, you throw it away every year.
Yowza, just gave myself the world's worst paper cut on a popcorn bag... and I have no band-aids...
Got any mailing labels? They'll work for paper cuts.
Round here trees don't come in a box ;~D
We got an arctic spruce.
May I never have to alter stretch velvet again. Argh!
Oh, I might... I wrapped it tightly with a paper towel and that stopped the bleeding but of course it still stings.
super glue... if'n yuh got none of that, a corner off'n a napkin and duct tape...
I tried to shape one once... I couldn't make it look like anything. Maybe it takes more than one pruning. ;~D
Jr disappointed he didn't get another skylight?...
Thanks. Looks like they're mostly out of stock for now, but I bookmarked the link.
Hmmm... appears the after-Christmas sale is nowhere near as good as the pre-Christmas sale I caught back in August.
