The Hobbit Hole XVIII - Though we pass them by today...
The Freeper Hobbit Hole ^

Posted on 12/20/2004 9:01:36 AM PST by ecurbh

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Though we pass them by today...

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

Poor Josh has such a hard time with the english language.

We went to the store and got him a pillow he's been wanting...Steve said it was a plush toy. Well, Joshua calls it his "Blush Pillow".

The other day, we went and got donuts, you know? Well, whenever Joshua asks for a donut he says "Got any blazed?" LOL

And he never says "Yesterday"...he always says "Not today, but the day before this day." Then we say "Yesterday?" and he says "Yeah." Every single time. No kidding...it's a hoot.

Are you likely to get any house-help?

This will be my last free weekend. I think I'm going to sit around and watch anime the whole time, moving only to go up to school and run the backups.

Should get some. But not necessarily a lot.

If I could find a coupla willing guys and a pick-up, this could go much faster, but...

Still, I'll get there! And Stephen is definitely an ally. He's the one that talked the others into coming over. He may wrangle some more work out of Margaret and the others yet!

Have I mentioned I'm really gonna miss him? *sniff*

Tell him he can come out and visit any time! Look, you could end up being a magnet... if your sibs can't find jobs near home, are they more likely to want to move somewhere with family, or on their own? And Colorado is a lot more friendly toward young starting people than the West Coast where your brothers are.

Talk about a person that doesn't fit in ANYWHERE...that's me! ;-)

NOT TRUE!! You fit right in here! I got a Nerd Score of 62, so I'm just middlin when it comes to nerdiness, but I have lots of other good qualities, as do you. ;o)

Yeah...Jim has already expressed interest. He wants to get out of here in the worst way, but doesn't want to go anywhere near CA. And he's kinda nervous about heading out alone. If he had a place to stay, he'd likely give up his job and come with me when I went.

The others...well, Bill and Stephen want to go to a music center of some sort. Probably not Colorado. And Margaret...I dunno! She's pretty happy with where she is, I guess. Maybe the only one who really is.

But in any case, if I pull this off...it will likely motivate some of the others to move on as well.

theboy has seen the ROTK EE, and he had this question:

Frodo was wearing the mithril shirt that Bilbo gave him, that was hard as dragon scales and turned the pike that the troll was using... so how did Shelob's stinger get thru it?... the stinger wound you see on Frodo in Cirith Ungol is on his right breast...

theboy sends

See, you're not just doing it for you, you're doing it for your siblings!

Hmm, unfortunately I only have one couch so I'm not sure about the brother... he could certainly crash for a week or so but that would make things awfully tight. What's Jim's job, anyway? Something he can find out here?

I think Jim needs to make up his own mind and get his own place - without my help. Otherwise, he's likely to blame me if anything doesn't work. However, I did tell him he's welcome to caravan with me when I head out - I'm assuming he'd want his car.

I think he'll hedge on things for a good bit longer, though. You think I'm hesitant...I've got nothing on him. It's like we got all the caution that was left completely out of Ben and Bilbo's makeup.

hmmm... yikes...

I was thinking that shelob got him low on the abdomen, and the stinger came up under the shirt. The wound I thought was the unhealed wound from the Nazgul sword on weathertop.

Hmm... but now you got me thinkin'.
