The Hobbit Hole XVIII - Though we pass them by today...
The Freeper Hobbit Hole ^

Posted on 12/20/2004 9:01:36 AM PST by ecurbh

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Though we pass them by today...

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

Hmmm...sounds like she's doing all the right things. I've heard of the caro syrup thing...might be worth a try...

Some days I really love my siblings.

Just got a call from my house - Margaret has the afternoon off (because of the weather) and she and Stephen and another friend are working on my office for me...fixin' to paint.

Gettin' a lump in my throat - they're so awesome on occasion!

Hopefully the concoction I threw in the crockpot this morning comes out tasty...I said they're welcome to stay for dinner and maybe even a movie.

But it was an odd assortment of ingredients, so I dunno! I had some wine that needed to be used soon, and I probably used too much. Chicken, rice, wine, onion, pepper, and some spices.

That sounds lovely!

I am pretty seriously on Atkins, if you can call it "serious" when I've been eating yummy low-carb tortilla wraps for lunch, grilled meat and veggies for dinner, and a mini-bag of popcorn as a snack... and found out that wine has few enough carbs to drink a glass or two guilt-free.

We're off to the wetlands! I'll post pictures if it rains enough for the test.

See ya later!

I'm just afraid I used too much and it will be overpowering! We'll see, I guess. So long as the rice cooks through...

Mmmm...low carb tortillas. Can't easily get those here! But I imagine I soon won't have trouble with selection...

They cost a little more but oh, they're worth it. I found some that are white and taste exactly the same as the not-low-carb ones, but have only 7 gram net carb. I can afford that! Not more than one per meal, of course.

Tons of selections out here! And whole-food groceries for your bean selections...

Okay, so Corin's not a doctor (although he occassionally plays pediatrician on FR).

But I have "officially" diagnosed myself with bronchitis. I've got all the symptoms. I've been here before.

Some of those formulas are like $10 for one can of ready-to-feed, so tell her to be prepared.

I still stand by Good Start. And my babies were bottle fed from day one.

Hmmm....maybe that's why they act so weird....

Gonna get on some antibiotics so it doesn't become pneumonia?

Fun. Don't let it go untreated. My mom did that and then she got pleurisy, back in November, and the pleurisy is only just clearing up.

I'll have to get used to having choices...

Until then, I'm gonna see how far I can stretch my dollars! Beans, on-sale meats and vegetables, brown rice...should be able to get along pretty cheaply. And after I move home for a bit (just until I move), I'll be able to bum off them for awhile, though I'll still pay Dad SOMEthing, I'm thinking. We'll see...this is still so up in the air!

Prolly. I really need for the trolls to sign of on a particular project before I can leave. If I were to leave with it not being done - even though it would be their fault - they would be most unhappy...

Sounds like a plan!

Plus you might just get enough from the house to finance your move/relocation expenses. We can hope and pray, right?

Thanks.... she's following along I think, unless she gets lost out in the forum and can't find her way back.

I have to go to town now for awhile.... do some work and hopefully pick up my saddle from the shop. :~D
