Baby update...
Sonya is emailing me that Megan is constipated and has not pooped in two days.... that she's cranky (maybe they both are lol) and if she doesn't go today I think she goes to the doctor.
She has found that the vacuum cleaner sound puts Megan to sleep, she said "I had it on last night for about 5 hours so I could get some sleep." That cracks me up. My mom used to go for a drive in the car to get me to sleep, but that didn't help ~her~ sleep ;~D
Steve needs it to rain to be able to do the test today at the wetlands. The jedis and I are going and I'm taking my digital cam.
It's supposed to rain today anyways...but we need it to REALLY rain, you know...and today would be best because although it's supposed to rain tomorrow, it's also supposed to get REALLY COLD!
It may not be anything serious, but tell her she shouldn't wait too long.
I'd imagine you're right... I think if all the babe does is eat, pooping should be the second-most important activity ;~D She's been having short bouts of this all along, couple days then a poop.
Followup question from Sonya:
[first re the vacuum cleaner] It is weird that loud noise makes her discomfort disappear. I had no problem sleeping with in on all night either.
Will you ask your hobbit friends if any of their babies had gas bad and what they did for them. We are trying Milicon but it appears not to be working. A lady I work with suggested warm water with a bit of Caro syrup.
ACK!!!!
I just got Matthew's old rubber snow boots out of the closet, because although he grew out of them a year or so ago, Joshua is just now able to wear them...
They haven't been touched for at least a year and a half and so I slammed them down on the floor and SURE ENOUGH a spider came out! I don't think it was a poisonous one, but I turned to to paste without looking at it too hard.
SEE?? SEE????
If this is a recurring thing, then I'd definitely see the doctor. Could be just a change in forumula (or Sonya's diet) is all that's needed.
For gas, turn the baby over on her stomach and hold her with your arm under her, like on your knee, but laying flat. Then gently massage her back. That ~should~ help some with gas.
Keep calm 2J! It was just a spider! And it's dead now!
And no, the noise thing is not weird.
Thanks.... I sent the link to the thread so she can follow along... (She could just register and post ;~D)
Is she breast or bottle-fed?
Yeah, but I gotta get the other boot out!!
shivershivershiver....
I forwarded the questions to her.... I'm not sure.
I think I've aged 10 years and gone straight to menopause! I got all hot and flushed. Scared me so bad I nearly fainted.
It's not so much the spider but the fact that had I not checked, Joshua woulda stuck his foot in there with it!
Most babies go thru bouts of Elrond-ishness.
Karo syrup always worked for my kids. Just a bit less than a teaspoon in the bottle to start with. Or even a bit of prune baby food, like trini uses with her kids.
If it continues, Sonya may need to switch Megan to a low-iron formula, so her body can digest it better.
I absolutely loved Carnation Good Start formulas for my girls. Less expensive than the other brands and I noticed a definite change for the better in their appetites and their BMs. Less gas bubbles too!
~gives 2J a movie-moment slap to get ahold of herself~
Maybe even just a couple of spoonfuls of prune juice, even?
Gosh, I'm glad you know about stuff like this...I'm pretty clueless when it comes to bottle-fed babies. I am thinking a formula switch too...
Here's Sonya's answer re: breastfeeding:
mostly breast feeding but she may get one formula bottle every day, usually she eats no more than 2-4 oz on the bottle. the doctor is giving us a different kind of formula to try because they say it makes babies poop closer to like breast fed babies.
