The Hobbit Hole XVIII - Though we pass them by today...
The Freeper Hobbit Hole ^

Posted on 12/20/2004 9:01:36 AM PST by ecurbh

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Though we pass them by today...

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

I haven't heard of that so much in the Army. Regardless, the doughnuts are going to be the extent of it, I think.

Oh what wonderful news, Rick!! Keep me posted.

And may I say a word about the thread that Hair and I have been promoting to get the kennel bill expenses down for Andy's parents? We got word that the bill (which was nearly a thousand dollars) is paid down to within around $50! And all the checks aren't in yet!!

I'm just so happy about that.

Joshua got up wanting doughnuts this morning, which might have something to do with the fact that it was one of the compound words he learned yesterday in school! LOL

So we're off to Paradise in a bit.

They aren't the same donut at all. Krispy Kreme are nasty little fried balls of sugar. Nothing to them, they've got the texture of cotton candy. Dunkin Donuts makes a nice solid thing. Krispy Kreme always makes me think of French pastries.

Not that they have either in Fort Collins, and I'm away from the donuts like the poison they are right now.

Dunkin Donuts also has the best fairly cheap coffee you can buy...though I know that doesn't matter to you. ;-) And they're open at crazy hours of the day and night. It's a good place to get a sugar or caffeine fix when it's late or early...and almost no where else is open around here!

Maybe I shouldn't have mentioned there isn't one in Fort Collins.

We got about an inch of snow last night... I'm debating, drive or take the bus? But with classes out the bus only runs once an hour, so I think I'll drive.

I hope this deal works out. If it helps, I would more than happy to add advertising links to them on our website.

And speaking of the website, I have several months worth of updating to do (new pics, testimonials, info on the "Hobbit Hole Special", etc.)... hopefully sometime this week.

One of these days, I am going to make my own donuts.

BTW, Shipley's donuts are *the* best. Kirspy Kreme's are too greasy, and Dunkin Donuts' are heavy.

Keep in mind, though, the last donuts I had were from the Tom Thumb bakery. LOL.

Oh, sure, there must be. I've seen a donut shop somewhere...

Am being good and eating a nice omelet.

Krispy Kreme are nasty little fried balls of sugar.

Heretic.

Granted, they're not the same when you buy them in the store. But, if you haven't had them fresh and hot from the store, you haven't really had Krispy Kremes.

I like heavy, cake-y donuts. My favorite is a chocolate glazed from Dunkin Donuts, which is almost the health choice there - no filling, no frosting, no little sprinkles.

Make your own? Adventurous woman! Perhaps we should move Entmoot to your house...
