The Hobbit Hole XVIII - Though we pass them by today...
The Freeper Hobbit Hole ^

Posted on 12/20/2004 9:01:36 AM PST by ecurbh

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Though we pass them by today...

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

You know how hard it is to shift one of those?

Good evening!

*gulp*

I posted the dogs on a dachshund rescue site thinking I might get a few people interested and it'd give me lots of time to look into new homes, if it comes to that.

The ad went up at about two. I've already had a call - about Fiona. I wasn't here when it came in, but it sounds ideal...I wasn't prepared for anything this soon.

It's...good, in a way. But I didn't think anything would happen fast. And it sounds so perfect for her - someone who has other dogs and who will keep her with them during the day - that I'm a bit taken aback.

I'm going to call them back in a little bit here.

Again, *gulp*

Good Evening Rosie - "The board has been set, the pieces are in motion"

That caller did sound like it would be an ideal set up. There are lots of dog folks out there that would provide a good home to your dog.

Just getting up the nerve to call back.

It's someone who runs a woodstove shop (keeping the dogs with 'em) in the winter and travels a lot to sales and such - with the dogs - in the summer. I know that much from the e-mail. ;-) And she adores travel above all else. Almost too perfect *bites nails*

I'll keep ya posted...

Just looking to ping you.

Glued up my last 2 staves, but haven't gotten out the bandsaw yet, think I'll do it in the AM, though!

I got vol. 1 of the Bowyer's Bible from Amazon, apparently I'll need 2 and 3 as well, so am going to order them tonight.

On the way to Publix, BBL, want to ask you something.

BTW, a tablespoon of catnip in an empty cardboard egg carton makes for a highly entertaining floor show....

Could be a 'God-incidence' Rosie. He's making the way easier for you.

Evening Sam - I'll be here off and on. "Apparently I need V2 and V3 as well". Well, many happy hours of reading betwixt them covers, my FRiend. I've read and re-read them about as much as my LOTR over the years. :-)

IRRC - Tulsa has one in the Spring and one in the Fall. I'll check to see when the next one is.

Yeah, vol. 1 came today. Also ordered The Book of the Crossbow.

Wonder how white oak would work for a bow...it's extremely heavy and dense, used to be used for shipbuilding, I believe the Constitution was made of it. OTOH, cutting them down requires a permit in this county.

Had another call...someone who wants both dogs. She sounded nice, but flakey as all get out.

Personally...from what she said I think she and Fritzi would suit one another. He likes being fussed over...she sounded like just the right kinda gal. ;) Fiona...I don't think it'd work as well.

But she really wanted both. Grrr... I said I'd call back after I talk to the other guy. I haven't gotten in touch with him yet.

I'm back!

I have no food. Must brave the dark and slightly slippery streets to find something.
