Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Though we pass them by today...
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
|
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

Evening Ramius - got a bit of snow here today but based on the forecast, it ain't gonna be 'round too long (this time).
To: osagebowman
This evening could get a little dicey. It snowed earlier for only a little while, but didn't stick, just made everything wet. Now the temperature is dropping. It's gonna turn into a sheet-o-ice later. The morning commute should be plenty entertaining.
But hey... went shopping this morning... got my Sorels. Now have warm and toasty feet. :-)

I find your intimate knowledge of show tunes disturbin'... I weren't quotin' the musical version. Funny that's what you thought of though...
Movie version (Rosalind Russell): "Life's a banquet and some poor suckers are starving to death."
Movie musical version (Lucille Ball): "Life's a banquet and some poor sons of b******s are starving to death."

Neither of you own a vacuum cleaner? I'd be buried in a matter of days without one! This place has all hardwood floors! A broom works just fine...

you can lay over here and rest up on yer trip... yer always welcome...Thanks! I do appreciate it!
I doubt things will happen as fast as I'd like 'em too...but it would be awesome if I could do the move in conjunction with Shootmoot! That way I'd be sure of making it.
We'll see, though. Right now even though I've made the decision, half of me doesn't believe I'll really pull it off.

Hey - if you can't be wild with paint and decor now as a bachelor, when can you be?

Rosie - packed yet?
Gotta tell this story afore I go (wife needs the computer). But she had me tearing up during dinner.
Y'all remember the family I told you about last summer (or before?) Four kids under 6 and the mom died with a massive brain hemorrhage. Wife takes the three younger kids home twice a week from pre-school.
The oldest boy (one of the twins, Luke's age) said something to the teacher right before Thanksgiving. He was so excited about the projects for Thanksgiving and the Thanksgiving "feast" (program I posted pictures from). Mrs. Sue asked him why he was so excited. He said "because Thanksgiving is when all your family comes over."
Mrs. Sue thought about it and realized what he meant..."Heath, your Mommy won't be coming home for Thanksgiving..."
His dad said he was actually glad to hear it because Heath hadn't, up until that point, acknowledged anything about his mom being gone.
*snif* 'scuse me...I gots something in my eye...
See y'all later (or tomorry)
To: JenB
So she needs prayers and a kick in the bum...Heh...especially the kick.
I started making my list, though, and writing up steps on a calendar. That'll make it not so overwhelming.

gets tangled in the brushes on the vacuum cleaner. Uhh... maybe try a blow-dryer instead of a suck-dryer? Just a thought, is all I'm sayin'... :-)

Good!
If you come out before Entmoot, we'll road-trip. My car gets great gas mileage, it's definitely do-able. The question will be getting the time off... we can, at the very least, do the weekend.
